There seem to be a fair few non aviation threads creeping in again, is there a cure

Seems the spammers have found another way to post other than starting the titles w/ HTTPS. While still using HTTPS in almost every posting title, they're using an asterisk (*) proceeded by 4-5 letters.

How about requiring a moderator's OK before a new user's posts appear? That defeats 99% of this stuff on other forums I frequent.
It's less work to delete an occasional Spammer than reviewing each and every new membership. Plus, once a person signs up, if they're legit, they don't want to wait around a day or two for a moderator to approve them.

Deleting Spam and Spammers is no big deal, it's a couple of clicks which deletes them, their account and all posts they've made.

We got hit hard for a couple days but now don't think I've seen one for the last two days.

Seems they are back

There is an informative thread going on here:
...about the increasing spam on XenForo forums. An excerpt from this page is:

"Yup, Tapatalk is the issue - it's garbage and huge security blackhole for forums. Disable it's add-on and remove/rename it's directory ( mobiquo/ ) within your XF file structure. I'd expect your spam issue to almost totally disappear then."

I have no way of knowing how RWF is set up or if the above has anything to do with it, but there seems to be a lot of good ideas from other moderators of XenForo forums written here. Worth a look.
