It sounds like a cool idea to me, but I think it goes without saying that the vertical stabilizer would need revision to provide rotor blade tip clearance through the full range of the cyclic. Looking forward to pictures if you go through with it.

I concur with this. If you think it's hard finding a gyro CFI now, just think of what the picture will look like ten years from now after the first time an instructor really get's the shaft for a former and properly trained student's glaring mistake. Good and proficient pilots make mistakes...
