    Nashua, New Hampshire - Magni M24 N327JD - 15th Jan 2020

I heard from a source that the pilot had a GoPro camera going, that is how they know it was going over 100mph on the ground.

Rotax 915 is not for new pilots

I think one vs two is more about how soon the front wheel comes off the ground. With one person, the front wheel comes off when there is less airflow over the rudder, and the main rotor is still going slower. Since starting this thread, I've done a lot of takeoffs with a lot less power at the...

Rotax 915 is not for new pilots

There is. It is fine for cruising flight. You can't imagine the p-factor difference between the 912 with a tiny 3 blade prop, and the 915 with the huge 5 bladed prop that I have. It is an issue when the front wheel comes off the ground. At that point, with a lot of throttle, you have to...

Test flew the Magni M24 yesterday

It has been over a year since my original post. I went with the Magni M24 with the 915 engine. While waiting for my gyro to arrive, Dayton was kind enough to let me keep his gyro in my hangar in Utah, and fly it as much as I wanted. I think I put around 50 hours on his gyro. The power...

Rotax 915 is not for new pilots

A year ago when I had the opportunity to fly several different gyros, including the AR1, Magni M24, Cavalon, Tercel, and Taurus, I noticed that I had more trouble keeping the Tercel and Taurus on the centerline on takeoff when flying solo (not a problem with the weight of two people). At the...

    Cavalon - Nephi - N882M

Well, it appears from the information I was able to get from the people at Nephi (through my dad), that the 915 did not have a problem. It sounds like the pilot was coming in to land, was too high on the flare, added throttle and got sideways right before he touched down, causing a tip over. I...

    Cavalon - Nephi - N882M

I'm glad he is ok. Any information on why the 915 lost power?

    Cavalon for sale

Rotor length is not a problem. I don't know if rotor rpm goes up automatically at higher altitude. Landings at altitude slow down just fine. He is not planning on another Cavalon because of price. With a 915 and glass panel a Cavalon would be around $175k.

    Cavalon for sale

My father is selling his Cavalon with Rotax 914. It may be with nicest used Cavalon on the market, with dual Garmin glass displays, ADS-B, etc. It was professionally built in Michigan (if I remember right). At each annual the inspectors have told him that it is the best built Cavalon they have...

    Chris Lord October 31, 2018

Getting back on topic, I have talked a lot to one of Chris's good friends and fellow DPE. He is convinced that he had to have had a control failure to crash into a mobile home with so many good landing options close by, and with the audio from the Mayday call. It sounds like he was trying to...

Have you looked into the Magni M24? It still uses the old style steel rods for control and seems bullet proof. I built one with the 915 and the power with two 180+ pound people is incredible. Mine is currently being shipped from Italy, but if I remember right from the post construction test...

Any photos of gyros or helos from AirVenture?

I saw your facebook post. Is the MT propeller you are using on the 915 a constant speed prop?

Calidus vs Ela Eclipse 10 What is your opinion?

When I went to Texas to test fly the Magni, there was an ELA in the hangar. We came back to find fuel leaking out of the ELA onto the ground. Apparently fuel tank problems are common. You might look into if the tank is removable or easily replaceable. It sounded like it isn't, but I'm not sure.

Help me decide on interior color

Yes, I will be building at the factory in Italy! My parents immigrated from Italy before I was born, and I spent my summers growing up there. I have an aunt and uncle, and cousin, in Milan, who I haven't seen in a while. It will be nice to build my gyro and see my family when I go in September.

Help me decide on interior color

Thanks Jeff. Are the "A" pillars between the windshield and window more noticeable in black? It look like the light color almost becomes invisible and blends in with the view of the outside.
