HI JAL, ...I flatly refuse to post on the RWF anymore ...as the arseholes & trolls who yap like little dogs at each other & about stuff they know JackShit about make it impossible for me to control myself in a civilized manner! To answer your wonderings ...in your recent post! the father & son who tragically died. - were FULLY aware of the ASRA grounding order on their & other fold-mast option TAG machines! & in fact had in their hanger , sent out to them by the manufacturer … just as soon as he could get them made up … the new . very nice wider, thicker beefy plates & hardware to replace the old plates that had failed in the Orange October accident!
Neil … had spent November going all over Australia personally inspecting tail attachments after a question arose with those after observations made on the Orange TAG wreckage! No tail attachment issues were found on any TAG gyros in service ..worldwide (he also personally verified most of the USA ones in December --- at great personal expense! … but gained much customer support & approval for his efforts!) Over here we have 2 folding mast TAGs with over 800 hours with NO ISSUES OR mast plate failures … it is perplexing WHY the two in Australia failed at such low hours … ..there were reports from both owners/ instructors .. that the pilots /student pilots were struggling with landings &/ or had multiple hard &" scared-themselves" landings in those machines ..also both machines were reported to the manufacture as needing the rotors re-tuned (smoothed) ..which Neil did & was surprised that they went "rough" again so quickly! … there seems to be a lot of factors here to consider.... & hopefully a more complete picture will be revealed as the investigators work through all the factors!
None of us can image WHAT was the mentality of taking flight in a grounded aircraft ...especially when the NEW parts were sitting right there on the workbench!?????? …. that is all I can report for now from my sources!

Wasn't that a mere technicality, according to your defense of the original plates?

Just pointing out a paradox of harping on their SD violation over plates that you claim were safe and not the cause of any crash.

Tail attachments: isn't "after a question arose" minimizing?
    ASRA did issue
    Safety Alert 2018.01.

Also, it's disputable that mere Nutserts (threaded rivet nuts) optimally secure a tail.

also both machines were reported to the manufacture as needing the rotors re-tuned (smoothed) ..which Neil did & was surprised that they went "rough" again so quickly!
An idea: the no longer anchored steel balance rod was migrating outward, causing successive new imbalances?
