Spank, thanks for starting this thread. I am using the Yamaha 130 FI engine on my sportcopter conversion. I have not gotten to the point that I can start the engine yet. But, I am going to be using a clutch. I have heard of this problem, and have also heard from someone that said that there was...

    Hi, Brad

Radio RFI problems can be a real pain. First make sure that any connection in the power system, magnetos, wires, connections to the plug in coil, fuel injectors are tight. Grounds can be a problem also. The primary ground should be the battery and then the engine. Make sure you...

I did switch from the Li Ion battery to a deep cycle std battery and have a two stage solenoid soft start.
All tested this morning with good results.
BUT, Now to the next issue discovered on the tarmac, Radio interference from the engine, directly related to the engine RPM.
    And not...

In June, I listened to a webinar from the EAA. They had a guy speaking from Falcon insurance. During the discussion portion, I asked if they offered liability for gyroplanes. He said absolutely! Never did follow up on pricing, but might be worth checking out.

Hey, Brad This is the same engine I am going to use in my Vortex. What year is the engine? I just found out that there is a change in the ECU in 2010 forward concerning the speed sensor.

I guess I need to be clearer. The sample rate for the internal accelerometers is actually 1 - 100Hz. I meant to write 1.0, not 10. Apple actually limits the max sample rate to 100 HZ. That does not mean that you cannot resolve a 6 Hz vibrational mode. You can set the sample rate satisfy the Nyquest...

Apple guy here...I have used an app on iOS for serveral years that I can recommend. It is called of all things "vibration". Samples from 10 to 100 Hz internally, and 1 kHz to 16 kHz with microphone and USB accelerometer. Sensitivity of the internal accelerometers is on the order of 0.02...

Thanks for your observations, Fara. Did you have any impression on the noise qualities of the Excalibur? Reduced noise level would be a plus, if the performace is equivalent to a three blade prop.

Did some additional searching and found this link. I assume this is the prop Chris is referring too. Looks very interesting. Hope to hear some first hand reports on how this performs.

I have seen reference to 6 bladed E-prop's that Chris mentioned in her post on a couple of sites, but can never find a link that shows or describes the prop. Can anyone point to some information
    on the prop?

    Cheers,
