:sorry:I'm Sorry I didn't mean to upset anyone or start anything.:sorry:
I have enjoyed the time at Wrens because this is where I first saw the gyro's. I had went there looking at getting into building the small helicopters. But to my surprise their were none there to look at and I found out more about the gyro. As I have said before I have ultracruiser41 (Barry) to thank for getting me into all this. But I can say I'm not sorry, but it does get boring flying around by yourself. Need a bud!

After doing the trailing thing myself it does get old packing it all up, putting it all together and then apart again.

Well Timmy...once again you want to get into a pissing match...sorry...not going to play your games.

Interest isn't dying with Ron because of lack of participation...he has found other outlets to take up his time...motorcycle racing ( which I got my fill of in the 80's ), boating when the weather is hot. He's also tired of all the political crap that goes on. Sorry...but we still have had a lot of get togethers for gyros and they are fun. Participation would happen faster if you were to actually fly something that you've been working on.

And son....I was flying while you were pooping green....Tim....you are very knowledgable about rotorcraft and can be a tremendous asset to this sport...but you have your moments such as this where you get very upset and bash things that could actually use your help. How many articles have you submitted to Robert Klutz to have put in our newsletter? A chapter needs input from all it's members and on a personl note....I've had much bigger things to worry about this year than the chapter so I do apologize for not meeting your high expectations.

I've been a proponent to start a chapter up here where all the NC and Va gyro nuts are located because I know we have at least 8-10 flying around here as well as at least 10 others who are very interested in getting into this sport.

What ya say.....want to start some planning for a local chapter? We could use all the help we can get and I know we could work well together.

I am all for starting a new (local ) chapter, if we can get it really going and not just once meeting a year to fly.

NC needs it's own chapter. I tried to start a Chapter back many years ago.

it was going to be a growth from a Club I started a long time ago before I knew about the PRA. yes, some of us did learn about Gyros and Helicopters before we knew of the PRA. I had learned most when I was in EAA from reading sport aviation magazine.

I would like to see a chapter start that would have monthly meetings in this state and not 300 miles away.

I think it would also be good, if the monthly meetings could be held at rotating locations so members in other parts of the state can attends more.

there is a gyro friendly airport about 6 miles from my house, and for more closer to Va. I bet I can get Anthony to host a meeting at Phoenix RotorCraft.

just some thoughts.
Make it happen.

P.S. the name is Timothy.... not Timmy.

The trailer was wide due to how wide the gear is on my gyro...Ron's trailer isn't wide enough. It took me forever to find one with the help of Scooter Pie Waggoner.

Soooooooo Barry,,,,, I take it you now have a trailer and are coming to Wrens.

My plans are getting there Wed. night or early Thursday morning with gyro in tow. So looking forward to seeing whoever decides to show up.

You know..... Big fly ins are fun no doubt, but there's a lot to be said for smaller ones also. I enjoy them as much as any other, sometimes more. If you're with good people it doesn't have to be a crowd to have a blast.

I fly by myself all the time, if one other gyro shows up then I'm gonna be stoked up and ready to fly.

Ron I have been waiting for a Call back from Dave about insurance, they require the aircraft to be insured. since I am going to trailer it in I may be able to get around that, if so, then yes I plan to take my Helicopter to be displayed.

I made Mentone with it ok, so just a Trip to winston is not a problem.

only thing that will stop me will be the Insurance issue. going to call Dave back shortly.

I saw somewhere you mentioned trouble getting your Gyro in and out of the hanger to go fly with your bad leg, Cindi said if you give her a ride she will be glad to help you with the Gyro at Goose Creek.

let me know if you need her help.

as for crying about chapter 13, well at this point they are never going to grow if they don't get out and show the public what Gyros are about, this airshow will have thousands of people there.
But I can not and will not promote a chapter that does not seem to care about being active.

your own words. Sorry. wish I could be more spunky about it. Honestly, the last few years, " local " participation has been low. Less than half the local gyro people even show up, and less than half of those bring a aircraft. It's not like it used to be......

sadly I have felt this way about chapter 13 for several years now.

I wish it was better, I wish we had more local members and had some local meets. even ROC/Wrens is not even in our own state.
and the time of year they have it is just not good.

Tim Chapter 13 is just a small club, spread out over 3 big states. There is usually less than a grand in the bank at any given time and there is not much to it.

It takes chapter MEMBERS to take it upon themselves to organize and promote the chapter and the machines themselves.

It isn't the chapters job to do anything.... it is the members job to do what they are willing and able to do.

Quite frankly, the willingness and ableness of people ( myself included ) has declined over the last several years. I don't want to spend my weekends flying or trailering my gyro to every flying event in a hundred mile radius to expose our sport to people or to sign up more chapter members etc.... Ive thought about it alot lately and ask myself why should I....? Eitherway, I really just don't care....

I am flying tomorrow to Triple tree in the plane. Last time I was in the air was maybe a month and a half ago. When the mood strikes me again to go all gung ho with gyro promotion and gyro this and gyro that, I may try to make it to more airshows and so on.

There is nothing stopping you from displaying your helicopter and chapter 13 membership applications at each and every event you choose to attend.

I am not losing interest in gyros because of anything to do with the chapter or anyone else....... I simply have more fun dirtbiking and going out to the lake. Doing other things!!! I still love my gyro and love every minute I spend in the air with it. I just don't have the desire to spend the majority of my free time out at the airport and flying here and there in the gyro ( or the plane )

Some would call it burn out. Others might call it something else. I am just saying it is still a ton of fun, I still look forward to it, I just am not wanting to revolve my life around it anymore like I have done for most of the last 10 years.

I do want to go to Wrens. The October West Virgina dirtbike trip last year was a bust, we cancelled the trip at the last minute cause not many were wanting to go, might happen again this year. I might not be signed off by the doctor to even ride my motorcycle by then... As long as I am not in WV riding, I will be at Wrens.

Mike, your where now.... 3 years? Talk to me in 2018, let me see if your still flying your gyro every free afternoon and weekend you got.

It happens to alot of people. I would say it happens to just about everyone that doesn't have some kind of job within the hobby such as a instructor or manufactor.

I could list so many names of people that were hot and heavy into gyros and you don't hear a peep from anymore....

Dave Dewinter, Maxie Wildes, Jamie Bodie, Richard Oxnam, Matt Pearson, Brad King, Larry Goodhind, Kenny J, just to name a few.... Everyone here thats been here a while knows someone who was deep into this hobby and lost interest and hasn't done much lately. Even the owner of this forum, Todd Powell hasn't flown or done much of anything with gyros in years.

Im not selling my machine and walking away from the sport like alot of others did. My ship is paid off and doesn't cost me much, I still love flying it, still love the fly-ins, and still enjoy my time around most of the people in the hobby. I just have put gyros and flying in general a few slots down on the priority list, thats all.

Can't go to Bensen Days next year because of the hot headed attitude that the airport manager has..... So besides Wrens my next fly-in would be Mentone next summer. Going to try to just plan on Wrens....

One will simply do what most excites them. I am fortunate to say I am more excited now than ever, and I first started flying gyros in 1985, over 26 years ago. I can't wait to go flying today, and I will spend a lot of time going nowhere but maintaining 3-4 foot skid height. Its whatever excites you the most! Stan

Ron Insurance killed off me being able to display my helicopter this year. I did think about you today, when they had a few motor X bikes doing jumps from a ramp to another ramp.

I did where my mentone PRA shirt and talked to several people about PRA and Chapter 13 and gave out the Contact info. so who knows.

the whole airshow was pretty much messed up by a stupid football game in town, was stuck in traffic for over an hour and then when I was wanting to go up in the R-44,they had a sign that said sorry booked up for the day. what really sucked was the helicopter was grounded during the football game due to the FAA rules about flight with in a 3 mile radius of a stadium.

this was just bad planning on the airshow promoters part. we missed half the show due to traffic.

there where some GA aircraft on display and 2 trikes on display.

at any point, maybe some day we will see a gyro at this Airshow. but then again maybe not.

I do think it is messed up that they would require insurance for a helicopter towed in on a trailer and roped off. but oh well what can ya do sometime.

Cindi and I both had our mentone PRA shirts on and I had on my Commuter hat with my N# on it.

hope you get healed up soon and can ride or fly again soon.

You old Hover lover you..lol

I used to love to just hover and air taxi the TH-55 I used to fly with my Business partner.

Ok guy's... I would love to come to wrens,Never been, always wanted too, And now have been making plans to be there.I will be driving a long ways to attend and pulling a gyro to fly when I get there as well. "BUT" what I would like to see is alot of the locals show up and show support for the sport. Reading some of the post makes me feel like that Wrens may not be worth attending. Someone please post something positive about me driving so far to see a maybe nothing... Help me out here folks, I would really like to come and enjoy the trip and friends.

BillyGyro go have some fun...Wrens is well worth attending i had a great time.
May get to go again this year .

Billy,

A fair showing from Chapter 56 will be there. Lewis Gulley, Myself, Gary Weaver, Greg Mills and perhaps a few others. If nothing else, it will have good local Georgia representation. I'm looking for it to be a good time!

Macon crowd

Macon crowd

Todd Day says he'll be there with his Mad Max and possible one or two from the Macon crowd may fly in. I should be there with my Bee.
I pulled a tendon loose in my arm but still planning on being there.

That's the spirit, Ray!

I spoke with BillyGyro today. He'll be there.

Unfortunately I'm going to be last minute deciding although there is a much greater chance that I won't be able to make it and I apologize for being elected rep and not being able to make it to our own Chapters fly in, but in my defense I told people as early as last year at Wrens that this year was going to be tough for me to make the Fall fly-in. I JUST got back yesterday from a 20th wedding anniversary cruise with my wife and kids. Obviously I knew it was coming up and I knew it was going to be a huge financial outlay that was going to vie with Wrens for discretionary funds. I haven't flown at all this year or made any fly-in at all and that really bites but I should be set up for a much better year next year and be back in the swing of things.

Oh.. for doubters.. here's proof! I'll be back next year so no hard feelings, I ain't mad at anyone or anything like that... its just been one of those years. This is the Jaguar temple at the Lamanai Mayan ruins in Belize, one of the stops we made on our cruise.

But I do have to say.... If I'm going to get any Chapter newsletters out, I HAVE TO HAVE CONTENT! I really feel like an a$$ not getting a newsletter out to hype or report anything about Benson Days, Mentone or to hype the Fall fly-in, but I've got to have something to put it in it to do so and with my own inactivity this year unlike last year, I don't even have pics of my own activities to post so I have nothing.
