Moderate Turbulence below 14,000 feet!

Analog enthusiast.

Analog enthusiast.

Hello Jeff,

I have always been an analog enthusiast because it represents the movement of time in what I find a more understandable format.

Digital has always seemed static to me and now with my brain injury it is even more important to fit the concept of time into context. In other words how soon or how far past something it is rather than a static identification of the moment.

I am also trying to improve my locating traffic by the face of the clock and that is why I have an analog watch on my panel and an analog clock in Mariah Gale’s panel.

I am going to use an analog engine tachometer and rotor tachometer on Mariah Gale for the same reason. I want to see movement and relationships.

It may just be because I am old and digital things are new and I have a resistance to change.

Ed likes to have both because she is younger than I so I bought her a watch that has both so she can relate to me and her contemporaries.

Thank you, Vance

Vance- I am in total agreement with you wanting analog instead of digital.

All my instruments in my Helicycle are analog except the digital turbine rpm. I can look at my rotor tach and airspeed which are analog and instantly connect. I look at the turbine rpm numbers, and I have to think about it.

If I were to have an electronic panel, I would like all the gauges analog with digital numbers alongside.

I am the same with clocks. I am a circular type person, and I can relate to seeing hands at 4 O'clock at being 1/3 around....rather than just a "4".

So Vance, you arent alone pal.

24 hour format like on the left or the right?

Interweave relationships

Interweave relationships

Hello Stan,

It surprises me that a young person like yourself would prefer analog.

Hello Jeff,

I like to keep it simple so for me I would gain more information from the one on the right.

The one on the right will also remind me that it is Zulu time so confusing the two is a mistake I am less likely to make.

I find I don’t manage the relationship between Zulu and Pacific Time as well as I would like and I am hoping that an ongoing exposure will help me with that.

I will get my directions from a 12 hour clock that would be set to local time next to it.

I have to find simple ways to interweave relationships to manage my limitations.

Thank you, Vance

Vance- To me.... digital versus analog is like comparing 2d to 3d. The digital gives me a 2d image in my brain...but the analog has depth, sense of movement like 3d.

You have described this in a similar way before. I may have finally said something in fewer words. I am learning brevity from you.

Stan

So these two would be sufficient?

Exactly.

Exactly.

Those would be exactly what I am after Jeff.

Where are they available?

Thank you, Vance

May I offer these two clocks as a hanger warming gift?

They are both "AA" battery powered and the 12 hour clock is atomic.

Thank you Jeff!!!

Thank you Jeff!!!

They are gratefully accepted!

I will think of my thoughtful and informative friend each time I consult them.

I am off to open hangar day at Santa Paula.

Thank you, Vance

Jeff....
That is the most thoughtful thing for you to do. That has made Vances day he couldn't wait to call me and tell me about the clocks you are sending!

He wanted them so bad but had no idea how to go about getting them Thanks Ever So Much for making his day!

Love & Hugs Ed

...They are both "AA" battery powered and the 12 hour clock is atomic.

I've been intrigued for a long time with the so-called "atomic" clocks. They're actually synchronized to a Cesium time standard located in Fort Collins, Colorado using a radio signal. WWVB transmits on 60 kHz with 50,000 watts, so the clock has to be hung where it can receive the signal to lock on.

If the hangar is all-metal, this could be a challenge. Let us know how it works.

I think all the 12-hour "atomic" clocks use a common chip containing the radio receiver and control circuitry.

Wow Vance! A little over $180 a month! Mine at Whiteman is $485 and the same size hanger at Van Nuys Airport is over $600 month!

I'd move to the Central Coast in a New York minute if I could earn the same salary I earn here in So Cal.

That I managed Ranchos Palas Verdes, and Larkspur Landing Marin County without being able to see you or John/All_In is an embarrassment to me, but I bet that your moving in Hanger Party may well be a low key affair, as important as it is to you both.

I wish you both happiness there.
