flight simulator software

This is a good question, I have only seen one that's not bad for Helicopters, Microsoft's Flight, but as for a Gyro, not seen any, if there is one please let us know.

Gyro Flight Sim

Gyro Flight Sim

X -plane has several Gyros, I fly the Bee Gyro on mine all the time.

But is it really a simulation of a gyro aerodynamic or is it just a 3 axis plane simulation with a 3D gyro mod skin? Do you get instruments related to gyro like a rotor rpm indicator?

X-Plane models rotors & wings via blade element theory, not by reading a table like MSFS.

What it can't model are things like how an offset gimbal adds stick-free stability since the controls are always stick-fixed, or what can happen when you flap the blades.

It's not perfect but it's light years ahead of the MS stuff when it comes to rotors.

Proflight is a scam - nothing more than Flight Gear (which is a free open source project) being sold under a different name.

I stumbled upon a neat little program called "MicroFlight" a few years ago when I was still a student. It isn't real sophisticated but I REALLY enjoyed just flying with it.... whether it was trying to land a cessna 172 on an aircraft carrier, trying to shoot down an F86, or deadsticking a Kellett gyro onto the roof of a barn.....

It actually taught me what I was doing wrong with my takeoffs. During training I would hit 45mph and yank the gyro off the ground. By observing myself taking off from behind the gyro, I finally "got" what my instructor was trying to tell me ...... when the gyro hits flying speed it will naturally just lift off from the ground, and it was crystal clear to me when I actually observed it.

You can download it from several different places ..... http://www.qualitysimulations.com/mf/download.php

being the best. Download the demo program. It lets you fly for 5 minutes at a time, so you get a feel for the program. I think at the time I bought the program for $25 and then can upload lots of different aircraft, like a DC3, aerobatic planes, and a few different gyros.

Yeah, it's probably not 100% exactly like a gyro flies, but the rotor slows down if you nose too far up, for example, and it's fun.

To get the best benefit get a joystick for ANY simulator you use. Good luck!!!

I have about 5 different gyros on my MS Flight sim from a Bensen to Wallis Barnett and some unreal type.

Niles, I have a set of X-Plane 9 that one disk doesn't work. I think it is an airports in France. You can have them if you want them. You will need to download the gyro disk but the main program is good. email to [email protected]
