I am looking for individual mufflers that go into each of the exhaust pipes of a VW engine.

I ran into a guy at a flyin a couple weeks ago and he had them on his. They just fit up into the pipe and a screw holds it in. He said he got them on line but I have looked and looked and cannot find them.

Anyone know where they may be found?

Thanks in advance.

Hey rick

many many places , J C Whitney for one , sometimes called resonators, sometimes stingers. Not to good straight from the exhaust as they are a little restrictive, only later after the exhaust pressure and has been lowered in the muffler do they work like they are supposed to and that is to "smooth out and even the exhaust flow"

I've flown V.W.s for many years and tried my best to quiet it down, with no luck. Most of your noise comes from the prop, wide cord, alot of pitch and spinning 3800rpm. Put 1.5:1 reduction and a 64" prop this will be a nice machine if your looking for quiet. If you add a muffler it would only be quiet at low rpms. The best length for each pipe will be 44" long.
This is the best pic I have .
