The "Rotors Over the Rockies" rotorcraft meet is coming up soon! June 18th through the 20th, at Fairfield, UT. While we have had a great response so far from Gyroplane people I haven't heard from many Helicopter people. We want to make sure that everyone feels welcome to come and we would like to have just as many Helicopters here as we have Gyroplanes. Last year there were more Helicopters but this year the Gyro crowd seems to be growing faster so this is a simple call and invitation to all you Helicopter people out there to come and join us for a great Rotorcraft meet in June. So far, the Helicycle factory people will be here and Experimental Helo magazine, It's looking good for the Mosquito Dealer to be represented and some private ships so will be here so we have a good base but certainly need some more aircraft.

If you are planning on bringing your Helicopter please send me an e-mail and let me know you are coming. Depending on the numbers that we get we will try to have some appropriate activities and contests for you to exhibit your skills. Please come and join us.

The Utah Rotorcraft Association / PRA Chapter 2 website now has its main page temporarily devoted to ROTR, with event details, links to everything from directions to weather, and a webcam that will go live when the event starts.

Details will be added and more links available as the date nears. See you there!

What a great job with the website! Thanks Paul for putting that together. This just gets better and better. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't hear from someone else letting me know they are planning to come. We're going to have a GREAT Time! See you all soon!

Whirlybird Helicopters LLC, a flight school in northern Utah, has confirmed attendance at Rotors Over The Rockies. They'll be offering 1/2-hour introductory flights for $120 in an Enstrom 280, or $100 in a Robinson R22.

Both helicopters are expected to be at the event most of the day on Friday. One (not sure which) is expected to be there Saturday.

Doug and Paul- You guys enjoy yourself at Rotors over the Rockies, sounds like another nice get together! I wish I could be there. I will be looking forward to some Helicycle pictures if you dont mind , thanks in advance and have fun! Stan

Stan, just hang a big ol' bomb-shaped 30-gallon aux tank between the skids, and fly out for ROTR 2010. That T-62 should get you over the Rockies!

You need to learn the route anyway. At the rate activity is growing here, we'll need a clubhouse with a circular staircase pretty soon!

Check out our Web Site!!!

Check out our Web Site!!!

For those that haven't seen all the cool links on our Web site yet, "prachapter2.org" you really ought to check it out. Paul has done a great job with bringing our Web Site into the 21st century. With links he has added to our site you can check out the latest weather (both current and 5 day forecast) for the area that our Rotorcraft meet will be held, see Web Cam pictures of what is going on at the site currently, get links to pictures of last years event and learn everything you will want to know if you are planning to join us this year. There is also a schedule of the Forum Topics and Activities that will be held.

While we hope you will make every effort to join us in person this year, if that just isn't in the cards for you, then check us out on the site and watch for pictures on the forum. It is going to be great fun. See you there!!!

I'm heading out today!!!

I'm heading out today!!!

Well, I'm packing up and planning on heading out for the Event in just a few hours. The weather has been wet this morning and the forecast calls for 20% to 30% chance of showers for today and tomorrow. Then it has Friday and Saturday being partially overcast and dry with highs around 80 degrees. So it may start out a bit wet, but it's looking like it's going to turn out to be a great weekend for our Event. While we are not going to have as much happening as I would like, as I compare it to last year, I have to admit we have come a long ways and it is growing at a very respectable rate. I am sure next years will be even bigger, but for now I am headed out, I am going to get set up, then kick back and enjoy a few days of vacation, hanging around and doing what I love to do. My wife and kids will be joining me for at least part of the Event so I can share some of that with them. Life doesn't get much better than that (unless of course my gyro were finished and I were flying it), but there's always next year. See You Out There!!!!
(I'll leave a light on for you)

ROTR sounds like a great event. Too bad it didn't mesh with our travel arrangements on our cross country trip. I would have loved to attend!

Wishing you the best and safest of times, -- Chris.

I've spoken with Doug at West Desert Airpark. We've had near-record rains this month, and they got some Wednesday night, but I just checked the radar, and all looks quiet.

A few showers are forecast Thursday morning, then partly sunny by noon, dry and sunny Friday. Highest temps expected during the event: 79ºF (26ºC). Looking good!

We had one earlybird - Phil Dunn was there Wednesday afternoon with his 914 Xenon, and a portable carport to be sure it didn't catch any rain.

I expect the webcam to be up and running by late morning Thursday. Drop in, in person or online!

Looking forward to meeting all my friends from the Forum, Fri night and Saturday.

See Yaaaaaaaaaaaa, their!!!
