Can anyone post pics of a autoflight motor mount for the EJ 2.2? I need to see how it bolts to the engine. Thanks

like this. This a Dominator being built by Brett Oswald here in NZ. He is using the EJ 2.0 Subaru engine with Autoflight gearbox, 2.4 ratio, Dragon wings at 28' Dia. Nice job I would say.

Brent, I tried to post a pic from Ram performance's site he sells the rest of the picture, the engine to tube adapters. Pricey !

http://ramengines.com/_wsn/page3.html

Building a frame and installing your engine can sometimes be a challanging effort. RAM makes it easy with their bed mount motor mounts. These little beauties weigh just over 2 lbs. and mount to a 1" chrome moly tube for easy attachment of your dynafocal tubing to your firewall, while resisting harmonics thru the polyuerathane bushings. Easily mount to the existing threaded bosses on the engine and bellhousing........$495.00

I would love to mount my 2.5 this way....we'll see.

Neil,

Does Brett have a rough drawing of this mount?...tube sizes used?

I've got to build one for a SnoBird 2 place and I like the round tubing instead of the square. I'm monting an EA82 with an Autoflight box.

Thanks,

Barry K

I called RAM and the said they don't have any for a EJ 2.2. ???

BTY I am in Hawaii now. I love my job.

HAWAII !!! Good for you ,you lucky sucker !

Have you flown any of your gyros there yet ?

As for the mount.......NEIL Do you have them ?

Autoflight mounts look like this, will fit both EJ and EA series engines. Designed to use the Autoflight gearbox as the rear attachment.

Barry, tube centres from side to side are 302mm, mount centres from front to back are 235mm. I should have said in the previous post that the EA series mounts are different, see attached. these rear mounts attach to the standard bellhousing. These mounts are sold as a kit including bolts and steel washers to be welded to the tube frame. Alloy is 6061 T6, bolts are grade 8.8

A hi-ryder, Ben? You can’t possibly be serious; wasn’t your theme song ”RAF Forever” sung to a John Philip Sousa march?

Truly a mind blowing revelation. In any case, congratulations.

Can't avoid a hijack here so will just apologize and ask for forgiveness rather than permission!

Neil, I don't want to start any controversy since I know that you and Ernie have a good relationship. But, pictures, of the New Zealand machines, that you have shown lately, while clearly showing the Dominator heritage, are farther from the design than the Brock KB series was from the Bensen! It is more like the difference between the Boyer Warrior and the RAF 2000. You can see what they were derived from but they are not the same machine.

It is hard to judge workmanship from pix since paint or powder coating makes any thing look good from a distance but these machines certainly impress me. I'm particularly interested in the front wheel and suspension assembly. Are these one off assemblies or are they available to other builders?

Neil can the EJ be set up like the EA engine with the rear mounts attach to the standard bellhousing and not the gearbox. If so I want to buy a set. I would think others would like to use this set up to if you offer it.

Brent

Neil, I am seriously considering mounting my 2.5 with this system. Does Ron at RAM also handle these mounts for you?

Do you know what the pricing is ?

I will call him if needed.

Chris,You can get the mounts direct from me if you like. Brent, I'm not sure the EJ series engines have the same mounting point on the bellhousing like the EA series, I've got one in the shop, I'll have a look tomorrow. Dean, all NZ Dominator parts are available through Ernie, thanks.

The EA81 has 4 mounting holes that are straight up into the block & 2 angled holes in the bellhousing.

The EJ only has 2 in the block & 2 angled ones in the bellhousing.

So Neil, are those YOUR mounts that RAM has ?

How much is your mount kit ?

No problem, Brent.....sounds like we both have the same situation here.

Maybe the same angled mounts fit both series of engines, I just don't know.
