Kevin2424: I found Robert's landline # in an internet search for his name in Newnan, Ga. I called him & had a pleasant conversation w/ him. I sent you his phone # in a PM here on the forum, which he gave his permission to do so. He has been meaning to get back here on the forum.
He still has the intake silencer for sale ($28 vs. Brian's referred Lockwood's price of about $275 is some savings to not spit @!). I told him a fellow in Magnolia, OH is wanting to buy it from him.
Nuwber.com revealed his landline #, whereas most of the search results come back as websites requiring paid access to personal information. telephonedirectories.us also produced his landline #, as well as his address in Newnan.
WHAT AN INTERESTING FELLOW! He is retired after a final career instructing for Delta in the 717 (MD-80). Was in a rock band in California long ago named Stained Glass (previously the Trolls), according to wikipedia.com. He told me his group had The Golliwogs (who became CCR) as their opening act once & that you can find youtube videos of some of their music! They recorded some of their music for the record labels & felt that if they held on long enough, they'd eventually become successful as other groups had.
He had a career flying fighter jets in the AF (became a Lt. Col) & had owned & flown a Dominator. Has a Dominator two-place project he'd like to sell (Hirth 4 cyl. 110 HP for it's engine). He modified the mains architecture & tires from the Dominator's design. He is planning on selling that project by placing an ad on barnstormers as well as other sites. Says that gyro is a rocket ship to fly.
He also knew Ernie Boyette & Carl Schneider in his gyro past. We even discussed Carl's propensity for going barefoot in any kind of weather, as well as Carl's efficient & quiet gyros he made.
