Finally found some time to work on the engine install. I'm replacing the 582 with a 912ULS. Had to move the engine mount tube, and then it snowballed from there!

Stainless flying wires serve to brace the engine mount tube, and triangulate the structure. The exhaust was fabricated from 304 stainless tubing.

Polished up my prized control stick, titanium fuel line 'borrowed' from the space shuttle, given to me by the late Bill Scattergood.

Looks good Michael!

Your attention to detail is an inspiration.

Looks good, with the oil cooler mounted upside down like that, be careful to ensure all the air is out of the oil system when purging, Rotax recommend to install with the cooler fittings facing up.

Vance, thank you sir! It's kind of like a custom show bike to me. My build area is in the back of my shop, air conditioned, so I go in and max out on one detail at a time.
Semier, that's a dam good thought. That's why many sets of eyes are a good thing. Right off the top of my head, I'm thinking the cooler being the lowest point of the oil system, the supply/return lines SHOULD remain full of oil, preventing air to enter the cooler. I need to think about this a bit. THANKS man.

Today's progress, I finalized the mounts for the oil tank. Controversial, I decided to mount the tank above the engine on the back of the mast. My design includes a ball valve to prevent oil drain-back, with a switch incorporated to interrupt the start contactor unless the valve is open.

Looking great Mike. I'm sure you're going to love it! I can't wait to see your finished product. You always incorporate some new ideas.

Rick, I'm hoping it will haul ass, I got so where I was running the ole 582 balls out most of the flight 😂 I'm struggling with too many projects going, every hour is spoken for.
Scatt, I'm planning to make a racket with that header. That, a smoker system, and a siren, I aim to freak some people out. Hurry up and get yer ass to the build lab.
We ain't getting no younger.

Here's one of the most valuable tools in my shop. I modified a Milwaukee Port-a-Band to be stationary mounted.
It kicks ass, variable speed, will cut any freakin thing you throw at it. It's a bit scary though, you gotta watch you paws.

Got it roughed in, many more hours to go on just this part. The left support is designed to clear the mechanical fuel pump, I don't trust electric pumps.

I can't believe Ernie would send that drive pulley. I certainly hope he provides one worthy of your build. Looking good.
