Ultralight folding gyro from Russia.

Very interesting autogyro built and began testing Russian amateur gyros Ivan Makovka. Ivan been working on the ultralights gyros and this time it seems to work out. Gyroplane in the flight position with the rotor DW 20´ weighs 200 lbs (90 kg), in the folded state has the dimensions of 79" x 47" x28"(2,0 x 1,2 x 0,7 m.) Engine Simonini EVO.

Very impressive and innovative. I would sure like to see them add a horizontal stabilizer, but to each his own. Making a Gyro that only weighs 200 lbs is impressive all by itself, making it fold up that small makes it even more practical and overall is very impressive. I wish them success with it.
 
Horizontal stabilizer is present. The photo shows the location of his mount. For taxi test it did not install. Weight stabilizer 4,4 lbs (2 kg)
Today the test had to be postponed - went wet snow ...
 
Nice, but what about folding the rotors? If they don't do that, they still have to bring a big box of rotor blades. So I'm not sure what folding the frame does for you, really.

Yeah but rotors can go on the roof rack of even the smallest of cars.
 
That is cool! I'd like it even without the folding option.
 
The geometry of it is intriguing. Up tilting keel and forward tilting mast!

Looks great, but does it fly?
Engine looks kinda small, what's the hp?
Also willing to bet the rotor is very close to the tail and will probably hit with a mild flap.
 
Would love to see a video of it being folded / unfolded. With a gyro like that, storage and transport would certainly be easier, though most people in the USA would need a bigger engine, I think. I really like the concept though! And it looks great! I wonder how that would work out with a 582, a bit bigger tank and a slightly taller mast - I agree with Jake that just by eye-balling it the rotor might be close to the tail (to my highly un-calibrated eye that is)! That and an electric pre-rotator too. Looking forward to seeing how this gyro turns out...
 
Dear friends i am from Pakistan and planning to build a ultralight mini helicopter, actually i am planning to copy the idea of the unicopter i.e. http://www.unicopter.com/1764.html

i have here available a 125 cc motorcycle engine wich weights about 22kg, i can do alot of modifications like to increase the piston size and alot to increase the max hp to 15 or 16 at 7000 rpm. Can you guys suggest me should i use this motor, will it be able to lift the passenger up?

Mujtaba: I would recommend not going the way of the unicopter. There is a reason why that idea has not been picked up by others. Small ultralight helicopters still require a lot of power.

This helicopter is composite but there is no reason why the same heli cannot be done in a tubular frame structure. In fact I believe I saw a tubular frame version in his factory. I would go that route instead. 125 cc is nothing. I would recommend using something like a Semonini 35 HP engine or a Polini at the least. They cost around $3500 new.

There are plenty 125 cc kart engines that can hit 30 hp without a problem.
