Exclamation Server Issues

For some unknown reason, we are experiencing very high server loads. I do not believe it is an issue with the forum however. I am working with the server farm to help find the source of this resource drain. I apologize for any trouble this might be causing.

My wife didn't think it was a problem; the high traffic kept me from in front of the keyboard yesterday.

Found the source of the problem. There is a simple forum on another site I maintain on this server. The forum is never used, however it did get hacked by user "nobody". Well apparently "nobody" went to town and started using all kinds of computing power. The network operations center quickly found the source our problems and shut down the processes. We're back in business.

Thanks for your patience.

Wasn't it nice that "nobody" forced you to spend Sunday with your family?

Todd,
coincidentally, I can access new posts and reply again -- but I don't understand how brown cows can eat green grass and give white milk --so can't even think of understanding this.

Hello Todd.

I was a bit amazed to see this and instantly thought of you working to fix the problem.

Thank you.

Good work Todd. I was spending way too much time on the motorcycle forums. I guess nobody forced me to go there.

Everything should be cured now. Actually had two different hacks attack. One went after the phpBB forum on another site hosted on this server. The other went after the flashchat module for our forum. Between the two it caused a great deal of chaos.

This whole deal made me a little nervous so I spent this afternoon upgrading everything to the latest and greatest versions. We're now upgraded to vBulletin 3.6.0 and vBAdvanced portal 2.2.0, both the latest versions. Plus, everything is backed up so I'm going to bed much less worried. Nothing else on the server worries me to much because it all just web sites that can be re-uploaded. However this forum has a tremendous database that I consider to be very valuable to our members. I really don't want it damaged by some malicious hacker. Please let me know of any issues you may encounter. The flashchat is currently down and may stay that way. I'm a little concerned about its vulnerabilities.

Thanks for your patience
