Thumbs up Magnis popular in South Africa....

...I have heard that Magnis are selling like hot cakes in South Africa; 8 sold last month and the factory fully booked until December! Resale prices are also being maintained with the recent sale of an M16 with 535 hours selling for the same price as an MT03! These highly stable machines are proving very popular in SA with a number being bought by fixed wing pilots including 3 airline pilots and at least 2 helicopter pilots.

Aussie Paul.

Hello Paul.

You are right. I have been there. Its a magni country. There are few others too, even SA makes, trying to copy Magni. But Magni is it.

Flew an M16 for 24 hours in Joburg with 1.50hrs check ride with Mr Eric Torr one of the best and the test pilot for magni SA.

Its definitely lots of fun flying a Magni. I plan to visit again specially if we get a few deals done out here, trying to introduce magni in Pakistan.

We also have the subsidiary of magni SA for Pakistan.

Wish us Good Luck.

Hello Mark.

Magni is coming up with a few new fully enclosed models.
They have been flight testing for a long long time, the new single seat is actually enclosed.

I love Magnis.

and if its that expensive WITHOUT a cab, whats it going to cost WITH a cab ??

I know they are supposed to be good but I still reckon the best gyro is made up there in your neck of the woods Bones...
Would there be any 2 seater canopy in the world able to fly 2 blokes about with a 2 stroke pushing it ??

Just to wet your appetites, this is me flying a fully enclosed Magni.
I don't know what happened to the colour in the film half way through.

Yes I know I'm lucky, I learned to fly a gyro with this machine.
I'm not sure I understand your last sentance "more the finer ones".
If you want some more of my videos go to the "low level update" thread in the "flying photos" section, theres some film from a low flying gyro between the trees.

Really enjoyed a Magni ride i had last summer. Super smooth. goes right where you point it. doesn't react nose up or nose down too much when you push or pull the the throttle... never have to nudge it to keep airspeed... Seemed obvious to me even as a beginner/student why it is the gold standard of gyro stability. would love to have one.

The fully enclosed gyro in the film is not very stable in yaw. The side area of the pod is too big compared to the tail area. As a result you have to concentrate to keep the string in the middle. This was a prototype and the reason it never went into production was probably this stability problem.
The standard M16 is a much more stable machine and much easier to fly.

Couldn't they simply design a different tail with larger surfaces for the enclosed models?

Tim
I must confess I've never understood why they didn't continue with the design, apart from the yaw problem and (what I think is) a 2x cabin hop it's a fabulous gyro.
Eric Changeur (the Magni agent in France and owner) teaches in it regularly and it doesn't seem to have suffered.
Maybe Gregg Greminger knows something.

Default South Africa is Magni Counry

Yes if you dont fly a Magni or a tanden gyro in S.A you are not realy in with the clan. But i suppose they must protect their investments, just suppose a gyro that takes 2 people that,s stable and costs 70 % of a magni. In Soth africa you need a good R400 000 to fly a gyro.
Paul this is why i contacted you, just think what sales could be if a stable inclosed gyro be introduced at a price that ordenary people not airline pilots can afford??

Hi Coen, that is what I have based my whole Firebird project around. I think SA is a huge potential market. I bet South America is also.

Aussie Paul.
