Default My new plane

A few people wanted to see pictures of the new bird I recently bought. This is a Rans S-10 Sakota, it is a two seat sportplane that is registered as a experimental, but does fall under sport pilot rules so could be flown by a sport pilot as well.

It has a Rotax 912 S 100 horsepower engine, and a custom finish three blade Powerfin prop. It climbs between 1000-1500 fpm and cruises at 120 mph, never exceed is 130 mph. It is stressed for aerobatics and so far I have done aileron rolls, Snap rolls, Loops, Split S, and wing overs.

It is not as nice as the RV-4 - which I have sold but still have in my hangar for another week or two - but it is alot cheaper to own and operate.

I flew it Sunday for 2 and a half hours In flight plus another 15 minutes or so of ground time I didn't count, and only burned about 11.5 to 12 gallons of fuel.

anyway I am happy.... for now

Alot of them know I fly. I have told many of them to bring their kids out to the airport so I can take them for rides. They know I am not ripping them off. My average price per lawn cutting is only around 28 bucks. Most lawn services don't even stop at the smallest of lawns for less than 40 bucks.

My big Scag is a little over 3 years old now and has real close to 1100 hours on it. I have replaced all the belts a few times, and blades of course, and the fuel filter. That is it. Still have the original airfilter, plugs, tires, etc.... Oh and I change the oil and filter every 100 or so hours. Mower still feels tight and expect with some care it could go for at least 6-7 thousand hours before being considered junk.

It ain't bad Matt. It is just hard to see out of this thing. Whoever thought putting the wing where they did must not like to look down!

Very nice Ron, I like the side-by-side seating arrangement better than the tandem.

There is not much to see around Hays, Kansas. I have seen Randy fly. There is not much straight and level for him. Randy's broad range of designs is quite remarkable.

Thank you, Vance
