Default Stark gyro

New photos of the Stark Gyro. Lots of work has been done, more to do however.
Rudder cables installed, rudder pedles on, stearing brackets on, control rods and fittings made and mostly on. instrument pod installed and hooked up.

Now that looks like a frisky flyer.

A couple things don't suit my fancy...but that's just me, ok?!

One is...the stick looks about 12" too long. I like to rest my forearm on my leg and just move my wrist.

Nice looking machine...simple and functional.

By the time I get in the seat, the stick is not as long as it looks.

That's what my ex-wife said to me.

Hay Bob !
I noticed your Kill switch on the insterment pod.
thats where mine is too, and It shouldn't be ! it can't be reached
in a big hurry I dunno about your gyro but in mine when I'm all strapped in good and tight I can't reach the kill switch !
so I have to leave the straps just a touch loose... not good !
so I am going to move the kill switch to a bracket by the throttle lever, so I can kill the engine if I should ever need to in a hurry
.... something to think about !
sure is a clean well made setup ! you took your time and did it right ! and it shows ! GOOD WORK !
are you going to stablise the tail with cables ? I can see its a flying tail, thats cool , but i think it could be stablized by cables comeing from the HS tips to the pivot point on the frame
don't ya think ? other wize it will shake like a leaf !
... what rotors are you going to put on it ???
and is that a 72hp Mac ?
... I don't care for the spindly looking front wheel arrangement
looks too fragle fer me but its Your neck ! hope its good and strong !
does it have brakes on the mains ?

Looks to be a CLT craft ! good for you ! looks like you've done alot of homework I can't wait to see it skimming the runway !
Should give ya years of fun ! <grin>
C ya !

My gosh! Always picking apart someone elses stuff....

No seriously the stick does look extremely tall in the pictures. Otherwise it is a sharp looking gyro. Why a Mac engine on it though?

The Mac engine is just for in the pattern, when I get all the rest of it paid for, I plan to get another engine and prop.
The tail is the one that was on Larry Neal's ship that he flew in the Wright celebration a year or two ago. It did well there.
(I know what you mean about the wife's opinion of the stick!!)
The nose gear is very strong and works well on the Butterfly's and Monarch's built by Larry Neal. More to do, you wont see much change as most is detail work. (90% done, 75% to go??)
More photos will come.
Thanks for the good comments guys.

Hi Bob,

Don’t have enough background to critique your machine. I can say that when I look at the pictures it reminds me of what might be read in a science fiction story about a mystical flying machine. At the same time it looks smooth and clean like a nice hot rod, the kind you like to look at even though it doesn’t have a lot of extreme styling.

Question

Robert: What is the weight of your machine? Will you be able to operate under Part 103?

The gyro is N numbered and will be amateur built certificated. I am a DAR but cannot certificate my own. Will be about 600 lb or so. Havent weighed it yet. It has a 90 horse Mac engine and I plan 23 FT Dragon Wings. that is a regular propeller that went with the Mac engine.
