received my new seat tank from Tom Milton (same as used on Dominator) and have test mounted it and looked at my dominator and it side by side. Also read many times here that the benson is about 2 inches from being a center line thrust. If I mounted the seat on my kb2 one or two inches higher
would this be any better for stability? am I seriously upsetting things by going against the designers plans? By doing so I would be moving the weight of the fuel and pilot closer to the thrust line but also moving the center of gravity of the whole plane up. I realize the control mechanisms would have to be modified and if I use the front cable I will have to watch out for clearance with my head. Any Help out there in gyro land? |

From other forum posts,,,,,most agree that the standard KB2 is close to CG CLT the way it is ...with the wKen Brock seat tank,,,,,do some research on this forum to see the threads addressing this question

You can also get rid of the guy wire. It was used to support the front section to mast during towing. Unless you think you'll be towing yours you can do without it.

Good advice Ron I. I think I found what I was looking for in the double hang test to determine where the cg is relative to the thrust. The bad part is I have to wait till I put the who machine together and the seat will be the last thing nailed down not the first.
