Default PRA at Oshkosh '06

To all

I have not reserved a spot at Oshkosh for the PRA.

They want $1350. I am short of funds this year and really getting fed up with EAA's attitude.

On the other side of the coin, it is the best place in the world to show rotorcraft. They really want us there---The people that run the south end of the field---Not EAA. They just want our money.

Let me know if anybody wants to do it. I will help.

Carl

Carl, That seems like alot of money for them just to put your little tent up. Have they raised the price this year to discourge the PRA from being a part of there show?

Mr. Carl,
Have you been putting up the money for the PRA booth in the past or has the PRA helped out?

Default PRA at Oshkosh

Same price as last year.

PRA helped $400 last year. $300 other years.

Default Absurd !

You have to be kidding me Carl. You paid 1000 big ones to show the world the PRA has booth and the PRA did not even pay you the costs to cover it ????

That has to be a new low in taking advantage of people and members of an organization.

Frankly I dont know who is worse at this point the pra or the eaa.

Sorry to hear of this abuse Carl.

Exactly what are they giving you for 1350 ?

Jonathan

Mr Carl,
You represented the PRA & put up $1000 to do it.
Thats some devotion to the sport.

I personally thank you for manning the PRA booth every year & hated reading what happened to you last year.

I have Oshkosh and Ken Brock (mid 70's) to thank for getting me hooked on gyro's. I can't make it but would be willing to help out with a possible donation. Does anyone even perform in a gyroplane during the daily airshow anymore? That is better advertisement than a tent and a static display!

I would like to see someone like Ron Awad showcase his Dominator. With the smoke kit, he is ready for the airshow!

Carl, I'd be happy to donate some money for fees. E-mail me your address and I'll send you a check. Is there some way we can cook up a deal with Tim Chick\Rotorhead for DVD's to pass out or sell at a nominal fee there? Maybe free if you join the PRA there and $10 if you don't, or something like that? It seems like a good way to promote the sport.

I'd be willing to donate some DVDs to pass out. When is Oshkosh?

I guess my questions are:
What is the purpose of the PRA Booth? Is it to promote PRA membership and it’s offerings? Is it to introduce rotorcraft to the public? Is there a plan for this promotion to be effective? How can we make it the most effective?

I would be more than happy to contribute to a cause with a purpose. With a little planning Oshkosh is the ideal setting to promote our sport. A demonstration flight in the show would be the ultimate to bring a curiosity and respect for autogiros and our other rotor outcasts and will add viability to the PRA booth.

An option as the costs are pretty high is to look to piggybacking on others in the same dilemma such as Groen Brothers, RFI, RAF and others who need the exposure and could use the help financially to promote together. Isn’t the PRA an association for the promotion of all rotorcraft? Why have their own booth? It would seem if everybody worked together it would lighten the burden on each group and achieve the goal of letting everyone on our little dirty secret that this is not only fun, but safe! How would anyone get the opportunity to showcase gyros in the show?

If you have an effective plan and goal I will be more than happy to contribute to the fees. If not lets design a plan and make it happen!

PRA hosts and the bill is split among the manufacturers.
