I stop by Just Aircraft and went over the changes that I would need to convert it to a gyro and they like the idea.
I set down with the welders they see no trouble doing what I asked. Here is what they will offer, If I or any of you want it. The Escapade is the plane that will be converted, it will be a Tri gear with tail wheel fixed. Beefed up tubes for the rotor mast, a 912 motor mount and every thing that would come with the kit with no wings. $16,500. We still would have to mount the mast and controls. You don't have to use a 912 but they have a FWF kit to make this a off the shelf buy. They have nice wing tanks on hand that would fit on each side of the mast steamlined and and around 16 gal. gas. As a plane with the 912 empty weight is 530 pounds. I think it will be more with all the right per rotator and all but still 550 to 600 max. keeping it this light a good useful load can still be had with blades we can get now. A folding mast, rotors, head, 912S per-ro you will have 35,000 in it before it is all done but you have a very nice gyro. side x side 3 hour flying range. I got to stop by Corben Aircraft too. He will sell plans, frames with as little or much as you want done to it prices are on there web site. a baby ace was setting in his hanger with the new nose wheel set up it looked great. The Jr. Ace is the two place side x side both would make great gyros. I think I will have to put this on hold right now. I have a deal I want to get before I can move to this project. I have made good contacts with both companys for anyone who wants to do this and I will help, if you want to know how I see the mast set up and controls. Tough crowd Brent. I think it's a good idea. Expensive, but like you said would be a very nice "Off The Shelf" 2 place machine. A Tractor to compete with a Sparrowhawk for about the same money. I guess the builder would have less to do since the fusalage would be a premade item that just requires assembly. I also guess the control will probably be set up with "Push Pull" cables like the LW. Are you gonna figure out mast hights, attachments, and control? If so, are you gonna be offing these items as a "Subkit?" Is Brent Brown Aviation announcing to the world that they are now ready to take and start filling orders for a two place side by side, tricycle gear tractor, Rotax 912 powered autogyro? If so, what kinda numbers is Brent Brown Aviation putting of the complete ready to fly or "Turn key" version? I think SparrowHawk "Turn Keys" are about 65k.Screw-Out

I will work all the details out on this frame set, but I'm not ready to go all out yet. Justed to let you know that they will work with us to make it happen.

Why not leave the wings on it and just fly it as a airplane?

Hi Brent,
here's an idea I was having why can't you convert a full size piper cub to do the same thing LW has done? Thanks, Ben Ramler Granite Falls, MN |
