Default Fuel filter problem

How does one fit 1/4" ID tygothane fuel line over the ends of K&N in-line fuel filters? The things are supposedly designed for 1/4" fuel line, but it's nigh on impossible to force the tubing over the barbs on the nipples.

If it wasn't in the fuel system, I'd dip the ends of the tubing in hot water.

Any suggestions?

cheers,
John

Grease the hose and barbs then squeeze it on

Why fight it,if you plan on routine maintance you will be changing it and fighting it again.
Change make of filter to barbless and clamp it.
One of the weakest points in a hose over time is the band that sits over the barb, wheater it's fuel, coolent or fluid of any kind the hoses I/D in my opinion should not be disstorted.

Hi,
Heat the end of a needle nose pliers and then work that into the end of the tubing. You might need to reheat one more time then quickly put on the filter and clamp. Hope this helps.

Well, the grease should have but didn't work... too much sheer force still required, (which probably bears out JRB's point). Will apply the pliers tonight.

If the filter is designed for 1/4" ID line, the line should fit. If you have to force it that much, something is wrong. Your fuel line will likely fail right at the point where it is over stressed.
Are you sure about the fuel line size? the filter size?
Double check, or get a different filter.
