Default The Legend

G,day.
This is an explanation of my mention of The Legend on the Oz forum.
Here in Oz we love our Utes (pickup trucks). Every man and his dog owns or has owned one. I must confess that my Ute has lid onit, its a 92 Landrover
Discovery V8 an I wouldn't part with it for any price ! I also own a Ford Fairlane to use on those rare occasions when I need to brush my hair and
put on a pair of long pants. Come to think of it tho, I dont own a pair of
long pants (aint joking either ).
Any way this is about The Legend, its owned by Birdy and you can see by
the claw and finger nail scratches that it has made a few trips out to the
number 5 bore in its day.
The Outback is probably the worlds formost country life magazine and well worth subscribing to.

so I reckon that puts youse closer ta civilisation than us !

If the poms, kiwis n yanks are civilised, then you can have your civilisation.

Yous QLDers keep boast'n bout be'n 1/2 an hour ahead of us, but you tend to for get that it don't make up for the 100 years your behind to start with.

Yes.... let's here more about the life and times of David Bird!

Yeh but over here where its beautiful one day an perfic the next, our Aboriginals
are contented folk. Over in the NT. they think its so crook they keep settin fire ta the place. Ya cant fly around an expect ta see an airfield because its usually coved in smoke, ya have ta fly on instruments. If youse yanks are goin there fera visit, remember ta take plenty of Phantom comics on the flight coz ya wont see anything outa the window !

Rob, The Northern territory is full empty stubbies, more anthills per square mile than cattle, broken down toyota's, Cattle that look like slabs of toast, Roadtrains( the smallest being 3 trailers), mozzies the size of footballs, Cut price fuel that on its best day is $1.20 a litre, One bloody highway down the middle, Down south a oversized rock which we can't take photographs of, up north a slightly used uranium mine, on the western edge a great desert, in the water- things that have rows of teeth and bite, if you stay on top of the water - fish that reel hundreds of meters of line off your rod in a blink of an eye, and then there's ...... Birdy.

Legend has it, Birdy has never flown higher than 200 feet above ground level, has an ongoing open warfare with a wedgetail eagle named "The feathered Red Baron", tosses his gyro around at ultra low level like an entrant in the Open saddle bronc event, and no matter what the event or weather, "ALWAYS" wears thongs. (That's a type of footware for you Yanks)

The only thing the Northern Territory beats Queensland to is the weather.

Ted

Take it from me you blokes, you DON"T want to cum ere..........ever.

The 'stubbies' are square
The ant hills are bout 20' high n 20' round
Broken down tojos?? wot else? nuthn but tojos ever make it this far out to break down.
Never seen a cow lookn like a slab o toast
Road trains, of corse, this is the birth place of um.
Too dry ere for mozzies
120c/L for fuel?? sh1t, its along time since I'v seen it as low as 130c/l.
That one highway is for you clowns........... don't leave it.
Oversized rock? yeh, sumone said theres a big rock west o here somewhere.
Who cares wots north o here, all the loonys in Oz live up there.
And birdy,..................... ever heard the word 'fiction' Ted.

And yeh, QLDs got nuthn on us for weather, sh1thouse one day, worse the next, so you'd be better off stay'n away from my patch.

Birdy, I meant to ask you, joking aside, what do you think of this new
Magni Ute that I was going on about in the first place ?
Not exactly a working station ute but no toy either.
If you wanted to travel to flyins and stuff, you could pack in a bit besides a swag and tucker box ! I would rather fly than tow.
The other thing that interests me about it is the fact that it's not duel
control, so you are saving weight etc. I think it would make a good ute if
you wanted to carry observers around, like, fisheries inspectors or rangers.
Anyone that wanted mobility, reliability and cheap operating costs and so on.
Cheaper than a helo in a search operation.
I've probably answered my own question here but what do you other blokes
think.
An eres another thort. If ya replaced the flour with pig's blood an guts, just
think how many bombs ya could carry ta drop on them fundaMental extremists.
