Default Another Sparrow Hawk is Hatching!

Well I finally got my new Sparrow Hawk kit home and starting to unpack and build. Whew! ever a lot of parts! Lots of curious thirsty neighbors as well! I done all my slots and bends and started to rivet the frame together. Tough rivets! Got an air riveter this morning!

Default Good luck and keep us posted

Hi Phil,
Good luck and please let us know how well the parts fit and accuracy of instructions. My self and others would probably appreciate an opinion from a guy that knows machine parts well.

John, All of the parts in the kit are far beyond what I expected. The detail is nothing short of increadable. Every last part is 100% deburred and ready for assembly or for you to finish your part of the build. All of the locator holes are cnc machine located so the accuracy of assembly is dead on. The only pain in the ass so far hovers around the cyclic torque tube bushings which are sent over size to make up for different internal square tube size variations that they fit into. I even milled them down close and bored them in the lathe but I bet I still spent 2 hours with some sand paper taped to a file for the final fit. The air riveter is pretty dam slick!

Hi Stan! I have been taking pictures but haven't down loaded any from the camera yet. Right now my garage kinda looks like Kenny's hanger! I bent them silly S tubes and ran my rudder cables thru the frame last night before I got drug in the house by my ear! Wives just dont have the same love for gyros do they!

Well rolling right along. Landing gear all done, tail done and on. Engine and redrive done and on. Engine end prerotator assembled and on. Sanding and priming tail in prep for paint. Want to paint tail before final assembly. I wish I could post a picture!

Seems Groen is out selling just about everyone. I guess when you provide what the customer wants, they will buy, i.e side by side and fully enclosed.
Way to go!

Rhino: Cool stairway. Just curious....do you know what the radius of the stringers are? I would guess 350-400 inches? I built one last year that had a 260 inch radius. Made it a challenge laying it out in my shop. The center of my radius was on a board projected outside my shop.
