who can help me where i can find about the full review and the detail of this AW-101 rotorcraft..i very need this pls..
i very need the detail about the constructional material, the design (monocoque or semimonocoque),constructional arrangement(components involved in the construction of the fuselage and tail sections), major secions of the fuselage and tail section.. and the other deep detail about this helicopter where can i find?? pls help me. |

Soul, subsection #84 "Technical Papers, Books and Publications" is devoted to collecting answers, not questions. Once you have what you look for you are more than welcome to post it here. I will ask the admin to move your post to #11.
In my opinion your chances of finding such highly detailed information on a fairly recent helicopter on the web are slim. Manufacturers keep these data secret for some twenty or so years. The last helicopter for which you find lots of information is the UH-60. Good Luck! Juergen |

The EH101, Merlin, Cormorant or whatever its called this week must be 20 years old.
I first saw it at the factory when I did course there in 1986. Just a side bit of information, it was supposed to be called the European Helicopter Industries 01, or EHI 01. Someone misread it and typed EH101, it was never changed. It was designed as a civil helicopter with Health and Safety in mind which doesn't really jive with military operations. It is fitted out with crashworthy seats, headsets for all passengers and a host of other things that pushed the weight up to the point that it is a big helicopter that carries a relatively small load compared to others. One of the funny health and safety things I saw was a life size logo of a fire axe bringing your attention to..........a bright red life sized fire axe a few inches away.

95% of the sales have military related. I live near the factory - flight testing this week have been EH101 for Indian Air Force Saudi Ministry of Interior Govt of Turkmenistan - VIP The factory also built the VH-71 which were collected by USAF C-17s into neaby RNAS Yeovilton. These very expensive US machines have now made their way to Canada as spares donors to support the Canadian SAR 101s Countries operating the 101/Merlin at the mo are UK - RAF UK - RN Italy Denmark Canada Portugal Japan Algeria Cheers |

Maybe 6 years ago when I was operating from Benson I was shown the operating graphs for both the Puma and the Merlin operating in the Gulf. It was a close call as to which was better for operations in the Gulf. The Puma was introduced in the 70s but is a lot lighter and of course has little to no Helath and Safety products. I'm not knocking it, just that when I was in the forces H&S took a back seat to operations. The Merlin has crash worthy seats for passengers. The Puma, we used to remove the seats and just sit the troops on the floor.
