Default Need Your Knowledge

I have been searching the internet to find a gyrocopter that will fit me. The only one that I have found is the Golden Butterfly.

I am 6’5” and pushing 300 lbs. Knowing I can’t be too picky I would like to have CLT and a four stroke engine. What is out there for a single? I am not looking for a tandem or want to spend the money it would take to get the Butterfly.

So what is out there for me?

Hi Del
I weigh about the same as you. I have sold my gyro now but I had a machine that looked like a dominater. It had plenty of power EA81 Turbo and 27 foot rotors. I could climb at 6 - 700 feet per minute. You should be able to find pictures of my gyro in my previous posts.
Loosing weight would be a good idea but Im sure we both know how that works out.
Im sure RFD could help you out.

Jeb,

Watched the videos, it is an impressive machine. I will do some more looking at it.

Roy,

I will search your previous posts to see what yours was. Do you have the name of it to look up some more information? And who or what is RDF?

Thanks,
Del

With the correct rotors and engine I would own any of the following.
In alphabetical order.

Butterfly
Dominator
Genesis G1sa
Sportcopter

Now all you have to do is determine how and where you wish to fly in order to select which one of those aircraft best meets your needs!!!!

You must consider also, the usage proposed . . .what do you want to do?

To grasp the advantages of each gyros John, you have to fly them.
Which of the above did you try as pilot?
Try to build ready your Genesis so you have an excellent, one of the best (all in one) gyro.

Hey Del

Pics of my gyro here.

The machine was my own design.

Chuck,

I'd just been on their site looking and didn't make the connection. Looks like I've more to learn than just flying a gyro. I get lost with all the abbreviations for everything these days.

Ron,

Read your write up on selecting the right gyro that was post by Thecap on another thread. Good information to consider. Also the four you listed are ones that I have bookmarked to study more about. Good to know I'm on the right track looking at the same ones you recommend.

Scandtours,

So far the only one I've flown is with a buddy. I don't know which one it was, but looked very much like the Dominator tandem. I've got a little more (ok a lot more) to learn before I will be ready to solo in a single seat gyro.

I have planned on training when the weather cools down some. It's just too hot for this old man right now. I am not planning to run out and buy one, but it's only a few months till cooler temperatures. So by that time I should have studied them enough to narrow down what should work for me.

Roy,

That is one fine looking flying machine you built. That is something to be proud of.

Thanks to all that have replied,
Del
