Default Prerotator - Wunderlich Right Angle Drive

While searching past PRA mags on another topic I came across a blurb in the 8/01 issue where Wunderlich Inc. announced a Subaru EA81 prerotator using a miter geared right angle drive with a combination flex shaft and telescoping tube. The blurb quoted the latest test results as 300 rrpm. For more info phone numbers for Wunderlich (815) 838-0450 or Don Graves (413) 655-2906 were given as well as a email address DonaldDonplus@aol.com

I had forgotten about this and this is the last I heard of it. Anyone ever investigate using one? In looking at the pictures I was reminded of the one fitted to the front of the Sub on Dick DeGraw's Dominator hybrid. The black and white pictures didn't scan well or I would post them.

Default ea81 prerotator

Dean,

I had one of these units when I was working on my turbo ea81. And although I finally dumped that engine project (difficult to find non-cracked turbo ea81 heads), the prerotator fit well over the front pulley. Another advantage was the possibility of running an efficient, square, telescoping drive shaft up to the mast.

If the flex shaft is used, friction would be reduced significantly due to the reduced bend compared to the usual rear-mounted drum setup.

I traded the unit back in to Dick for another unit when I changed engines. It looked like it would have worked well.

Does Wunderlich have a web site? Where do people purchase their prerotators from?
