Default Texas Rotorcraft Association

If you missed the last meeting of the Texas Rotorcraft Association, you missed a barrel full of interesting things. The day was gorgeous, practically perfect for flying, and CFI Henry Foster was busier than a jack rabbit in a cabbage patch, giving rides and instruction in his RAF. Ken "Speedy" Adams, all the way from Canada, was there. Speedy is building a Monarch gyroplane that will be equipped with a Jabiru engine. He has the frame in the hangar along with the engine and will be working on it during the next several weeks. The Carter Copter was on the ramp and the panels were open for a close-up inspection. The day was loaded with plenty of good hangar talk and I believe that maybe a few of those stories that persons narrated about their flying adventures were actually true.

Dr. Bob Stark is conducting another Gyro Repairman Course on the weekend of Nov. 12 and 13 at the Olney, Texas, airport. This is the course that, when successfully completed, earns a person a certificate to perform the annual condition inspection on an experimental LSA (Light Sport Aircraft) gyroplane which that person owns, whether or not that person originally built the aircraft. Dr. Bob is currently the only person providing this course anywhere in the U. S. Even if you don't have an X-LSA gyroplane, this course is loaded with good, solid, practical information about how to perform inspections of gyroplanes. As a graduate of the course myself, I encourage you to look into it. If you're interested in attending or want to learn more about the course, there's more information on Bob's web site at www.starksaviation.com/courses.shtml .

New officers were elected at the meeting and they are:
Secretary-Treasurer: Bob Stark
Vice_President: Roger Zwicker
President: Ira McComic

Remaining in their non-elective posts are:
Web Master: Bryan Fair
Chief Wrangler: Bob O'Dell
Independent Rambling Ambassador and Minister of Flying Stories and Other Lies: Ira McComic

Lots of new things are in the works for the coming TRA meetings, so put those dates on your calendar. The meetings are on the fourth Saturday of each month, EXCEPT the upcoming meetings in November and December will be on the THIRD Saturday (Nov. 19 and Dec. 17).

We're updating the TRA's email list. If you want to be added to the email list, contact me at imccomic@gmail.com. If you want to learn more about the organization, my contact information is below.
