Default Not gyro related...Need some suggetions regarding project..

Hey guys, I have a project I am working on that will require a hollow tube to act as a crucible for a period of 10 to 15 seconds only. It is disposable and looks are of no concern. Problem is it needs to contain a thermitic reaction which can reach temps of 5000 degrees, but only for a few seconds.
I tried glass and ceramic, but they shattered from the temp shift. Someone suggested looking at graphite and I am awaiting a call from a company even now.
So any ideas? I have been using a piece of thick 5/16 pipe which has survived remarkably well, but the weight is a major drawback.
Price isn't a main concern, but the lower the cost the more the profit!
So any ideas?
Ben S

My pulsejet calls for stainless. The combustion chamber gets red hot and I think it's only a few thousand degrees. I have some graphite laying around. I don't remember if it's tube or rod....want a piece? EDIT: It's a 1/4 inch rod.

AH HA!! I found my graphite crucibles. You want one? They are a little used from my last experiment, but I'm sure they can be cleaned out.

I not sure if Ben remembers the converstion we had about this

Hey Ben!! This thing is only 3.5 inches long and 1.5 inches inside diameter,1/4 wall. If that's good enough I'll ship it to you. Actually, I have two of them for you. They are crucibles, but the bottoms are sure to come off after what I did to them so it will be a tube
I made an aluminum alloy that dissociates hydrogen from water. Too messy and expensive. Smelled bad too.

You have my number.....

I wish I was a snowbird. Seems like a better life than a snowboard.
