It's great to hear that our Gyro world is growing and expanding. I sure wish them all the success in the world.

Why do the sky guards only get the Xenon 2 which, according to the website, are not produced any more? Sell out of last year's model?

Kai,
Xenon 3 is still not certified in Poland. Polish rules are much tighter than even German. The machines they fly now do not belong to OSP Baranow, they belong to the school, so, yes, they are older test machines or last model end of series. The program is expected to buy 2 Xenon 3 machines, as soon as first group of pilots completes the training. This is completely new initiative, the headquarters of the Volunteer Fire Guards, who finance the project, want to be on the safe side. The pilot candidates are just line firemen from the village and it remains to be shown, that they can be trained as pilots. So far they are doing very good, so the 2 new machines will be probably ordered end of this year. Until then the Xenon 3 will be fully certified for Poland and available. At the moment the order book is full, 10 new machines on the way. Last edited by PTKay; 09-07-2012 at 10:59 PM. |

Short update:
5 of the original candidates, who started the program already passed the exam and have obtained the gyro licence. Further 3 are waiting for the date of the final exam, whether and some formal problems by the Polish FAA delayed the process. This is quite an impressive success rate! The first Xenon for the Fire Brigade has been ordered and is to be delivered by Aviation Artur Trendak within a month. On February 23rd a meeting organized by Deputy Prime Minister Waldemar Pawlak, (who is also the National Chief of Volunteer Fire Brigades) took place at their headquarters. Invited were the first 4 pilots from the program, representatives of Ministries and Parliament. They discussed the modifications in aviation regulations and practical aspects of application of light aircraft in public services. Another step in good direction. The Xenon (or ZEN1, I have no clue, what the result of the
legal battle is) for the SKY GUARDS has been successfully flight tested today. It still waits for installation of FLIR before being delivered to the Volunteer Fire Brigade in Baranów, the first SKY GUARDS base. The registration is SP-XESP, SP stand for Straż Pożarna = Fire Guards. Way to go! |

Out of 9 candidates for pilots 6 have passed
the final exams and obtained the Polish Ultralight Gyroplane Pilot Licence. They kept their skills current flying just few hour a month waiting for their first machine to be delivered. Once it will be taken into service it is booked for patrol flights by the State Fire Brigades of the County to patrol forests and highways. Last edited by PTKay; 09-07-2012 at 11:01 PM. |

Thanks to the courtesy of Darek Szymanczak,
Chief of the Volunteer Fire Brigade in Baranow and "Top Gun" of the OSP Baranow enclosed some images of the first flight of the SP-XESP. Steve, I think it is G2, G3 (or ZEN1) is still not approved/certified in Poland. As you can see it has full glass cockpit, Odyssey. FLIR and radios coming soon. Hi Paul
""The Xenon (or ZEN1, I have no clue, what the result of the legal battle is) for the SKY GUARDS has been successfully flight tested today."" I notice that the Aviation Artur Trendak website has recently uploaded a copy of their Type Certificate for the "Zen 1" - issued 15th May 2012 - well done to AAT. see http://autogyro.eu/index.php/en/stronaglowna Cheers Steve |

The order for the gyrocopter was placed
last year, it was not sure, how the situation will develop. Therefore to go "the sure way" they manufactured G2 for this customer. Pity, the ZEN1, or G3 would have been certainly better with the new, safer mast mount and improved performance. Let's hope, the next machine, hopefully in the pipeline, will be the new design.
