Larry B.'s wife finally got up the courage or confidence to go up with him tonight. She claimed it was fun so she kissed Larry, gave us the big thumbs up, & drove off. We still don't know where she is!
I went up with Larry for a spin. He had the doors on so the windows were steaming up quickly. Add this to the sobering fact that with that high thrustline we could bunt over any second really took the fun out of it...NOT!! I was holding the door ajar to get some air. He needs door vents or a defroster. I don't have that problem, but it sure gets cold sometimes! Then we stripped his machine of it rotorblades & threw them in my camper. Hopefully I will get to try them on my SxS Air Command on Tues. to see if my lack of HP can be overcome with longer blades. Thanks Larry!

Chris,
Nice story about another individual getting over their fear of gyros, and coming down to earth with a big smile on their face! It's not just the wives that are typically afraid of our machines. We have a member of our club who owns a helicopter, and at our last fly-in, expressed how afraid he was to fly in a gyro. In fact, he had never been up in one yet. A couple of us worked on him over the weekend, and convinced him to take a demo flight with Greg Gremminger. Finally we got him loaded into Greg's machine, and off they went. When they came down, after he stopped grinning, the comment was " I wish I'd done this before I spent all my money on my helicopter!" If that's not a heck of an endorsement, I don't know what is. This member has been around gyros for longer than the four years I have, and still had misconceptions about them. The good thing is another person is a believer in gyros.

Debbie wanted to become a member of the mile high club. Unfortunetely, My gyro didn't and probably never will see 5200 feet. neverless, that steamed up window reminded me of the steamed up windows in my 1956 chevy BelAir when we used to date. Debbie used to get so excited when we would go for a ride in the "56". I'm not saying nothin, but she sure was excited. I can't help it if I took advantage of that excitement at 500ft. That steam was excitement, not lack of ventilation!!!Oh by the way, Debbie said it was a little scary, but loved the landing.Sounds like deshavue in the "56".
![]() One other comment. Before Gyro Ron gets any funny ideas. The steamed windows Chris experienced were for a ventilation problem!!! Silly.
