Default Screen Names

I'm just curious - what is the value of the screen names a lot of people use on the forum? Our real names are readily available in our personal profiles, as required in the rules of the forum.

Cause I like to use my "call sign" Madmaxwell!

I think in the beginning nicknames were just used, but then some people would get on here under a nickname and start trouble, so a rule was made that you have to give your real name ......
