Default New idea pre-rotator

I found a cable on a drilling rig used for the autodriller that maybe the best solution for a pre-rotator cable. It can bend more than 90 degrees, has bearings on both ends, a small port to add lubrication, able to run 24/7 for months at a time. It is a braided cable and not sure it could handle the high RPM.

This guy can build anything. It would be worth a call for the creative guys

I bet it can handle the RPM and torque...looks like pretty good size motor running it as well.

The motor running it is a detroit. The picture is the autodriller that lifts the brake handle on the draw works. Someone smarter than I needs to call him as this guy can build anything and all the cables are custom. It is a small calbe for what it does.

Looks like a regular flex cable. There is company that makes them with different ends, but they only wholesale. Schuyler or something like that. they make the ones that McCarr sells. But we do need something. I have had a call in to Tom with no results. Any one have a 54 in CC flex shaft lying around?

Mark,

Email Tom, he just doesn't do phone calls, for some reason. I've always had good luck emailing him, and no luck calling him.

I did email him,
We spoke about a week ago and he was having problems with his computer. He said he had not got my email. I hope he is not sick again.
Thanks for the tip. I will try a few more days.

Hi Mark,
I have had your flex shaft assy ready for a week or so. I also have the upper unit direct drive ready, but will be a few more days on the extra W006 Braces that you wanted (as I told you on the phone).

I am not in the office very long these days. I have been spending 12 hour days in the shop (not complaining) the backlog of orders is getting filled and i anticipate getting caught up within the next two weeks (except for the two, one-of a-kind items I have to fabricate for two customers)

My health issues are fairly well over. Last Wednesday, the Doc said I could loose the 4 layer compression bandages on my leg and switch to a support stocking...... yipee !
