Anybody who's flown commercially since 9/11 knows that they have zero sense of humor at all on the subject of bombs in planes, wasn't a bright idea on his part.

What he should get is fined for smoking in the bathroom in the first place...

I'm sure the guy's going to flout his diplomatic immunity. I don't think there is much the authorities can do with him except inconvenience him.

I think whomever the pilot is on his return flight should refuse to let him board for his passengers safety. Pilots are given the final say on who can fly in their aircraft.

It is through by either thoughtless behavior like this, or deliberate action that various Arab nations have caused, not all, but perhaps the majority of misery now being experienced by airline travelers today. From some of the very early hijacks to the serious extremist actions recently.

I always think "What would the Chinese do?"
Drag him off the plane and cap him on the tarmac! Then have your diplomats apologize for someones hasty actions. Message sent and problem solved.
I have noticed that China does not have any terrorist problems.....
