a lot of work must have gone into building that, real nice to see and hear, I wonder if 2 of those little engines on the hub would work as a prerotator?

Prerotator my a$$. That would be a full blown tip jet copter.

It would only take fourty pounds of thrust to fly.

Them there jets are about 80 to 100 lbs. of thrust each.

Just guesstamating according to size.

if these little jets put out 100 pounds of thrust think of the cool gyro that could be built with 4 of them on stub wings that could also be fuel tanks

It seems to me the European R/C clubs (especially the Germans) are really creating and flying the most superb scale aircraft ever.

I agree....this one is truly a sophisticated toy...retractable gear and all....very nice.

Must have been a long and expensive build. He hasn't bought new pants since he was a foot shorter.
I am waiting for these guys to break the sound barrier with a model.

Here's the same general idea in a slightly larger twin-jet aircraft.

There used to be video of it flying, but couldn't find it.

If you did, you would lose sight of the model. I'm still amazed that you can see wich way a model flies, once it's in the distance. I've tried it and its very hard.

I fly R/C a little and orientation is my problem. My eysight is so bad I can't see which way it is pointed, and my memory is so bad I can't remember which way I had it pointed last.
So I am sure you are right it would be a real feat.

In reality you could insert a preprogramed flight plan that is gps supported, press a button and it will take off, go supersonic and land with no input from a human.

Lee I think you should build one. Don't get Mike to help---It will be to shinny!!!
