You know guy's, I don't want to start some bad vibe here, but I smell a rat......

All the best to Millennium, but they went from "I have no money to complete your parts", to a complete new heli, with carbon fibre blades, transmission castings and all ??

All this marketing hype of "orders full for the next 6 months", and "Totally new production number 4 heli available on e-Bay" ...... Crikey, sounds like a used car salesman claiming "only one lady owner", or "doctors car" or "unwanted gift"......

If someone confirms to owning a "new" one, not with components refurbished from an original Mini-500, to John and Kyle, I'll eat my words..!!!

I think there's a major dispute over who owns the rights to this design. A week or so ago (someone might have the inside story) there was an Ebay ad selling the rights and saying that they owned the rights and could sell them. It wasn't Millenium.

This is not Mini-500, this is Mh-1.

Agree.

Amusing how the basic Mini 500 design is all out the bottom in one thread and praised in another.
I can't judge the design, but John want to use it and are (or where) willing to pay for it.
That's enough for me to believe the basic design was okay.

So now your are blaming Millinium for being a copy of CH6.
Amusing.

John thought the Mini 500 design, drawings etc. had value and potential. Proves something to me, and I think and hope he is right.

John needed these documents to be able to build and sell spares
for Mini 500.

You don't know, how far he modified the construction of his MH-1.

It is certainly completely different engine, transmission, rotor blades etc.

Problems with Mini were not only by faulty design, but also by faults in
manufacturing. Let's hope John is more diligent in his doings.

At the moment he is enjoying beginners confidence credit.

He will have to prove it.

There are very few people associated with homebuilt rotorcraft that have the engineering competence to perform the calculations necessary for a “scratch” design helicopter.

But “clean sheet of paper” designs are a rarity. One can only hope that Cicaré got it right and that the addition of 200 lbs. of “lipstick” doesn’t compromise the basic design.

If the transmission, controls, rotor head have been not changed dramatically
after changing the engine power from 65 to 120 hp., and increasing the weight by 200 lb.
(of "lipstick", like Chuck called it), then it is a disaster waiting to strike...

Let's have some more details and wait for some longer flight time reports.

Paul and Chuck,

I have in my hands, two Stress and Load Analysis Reports, done by independant aerospace engineering firms, for kit certification by a strict European CAA. It shows all is well with the Mini-500 dynamic component design. The airframe loadpath has some issues. The head, transmissions, controls, they are not going to come apart in flight. The part that looks the worst, is the last bend at the bottom of the cyclic stick. If you load up the control system, that's where it's going to snap off. I would thicken that tube, or change the material. The 3 vertical pushrods are critical, as is they are strong enough, but as critical components, they could be beefed up as well.

Anyone out there have any report of a Mini-500 dynamic component failing in flight, and causing an accident? (Engine excluded). Collectively, they flew enough hours to have shown a trend. This question is actually a CHALLENGE, without a negative conotation, to those always claiming it's a deathtrap. SHOW US what you know, if you guys feel so strong about it, so that us MINI-500 experienced guys can answer you back in a CIVILIZED manner.

Let's use this forum for what it was intended for, to SHARE information, not SHOUT opinions. Share only facts, not "hear say". As requested before, I would LOVE an unhijacked Mini-500 technical discussion thread.

.... I doubt I will get any replies to my request.........

I've asked Todd to move the last 4 posts to the Mini-500 thread under helicopters. The sole purpose is to gather all the Mini-500 MH-1 technical discussions under one thread, where we can talk good and solid technical things. No trashing anybody, clean technical stuff. If I want to discuss say, a transmission problem, I would like educated answers.

I hope all are in favour of this.

Thanks, Francois
