Default Gyro pilots

This goes out to all the gyro pilots in NC. I am in VA just outside of Ft. Lee, Petersburg and form what I know there are no gyro's here but mine, although my daughter told me yesterday that a gyro flew over the campground and even circled my trailer with my Hornet on it in what must have been 30 degree weather, could happen so if that was you pm me please, but I digress.

Contact me if you guys would so I know where you all are and if you guys get together to do gyro related stuff and what not, we do not have a active chapter here in VA either.

I need some flying friends ones that actually have gyros.

Dan

I'm Robert in Salisbury, NC just about perfectly halfway between Greensboro and Charlotte along I-85.

Ron Awad (gyroron) and Barry Kropelin (ultracruiser41) are in Matthews/Indian Trail near Charlotte. Gyrodude is in Mt. Pleasant. Animal is Greensboro, Cruizer is near Raleigh somewhere, Automan is in Oriental (that is IN Oriental, not AN Oriental hehehe). There is also a newbie... well even newer than me, who is my new hangar mate, Scott Waggoner (sdwagg71) also in Salisbury. He will be training with Steve McGowan very shortly and already owns what used to be Barry Kropelin's single seat Dominator.

That is all I have personally met from NC.

Wow.. I forgot about the father and son that bought my Soma that are in Lincolton. His name is Michael Clark. I don't know if they ever joined the forums.

I'd love to meet with you and fly. Remember about Bensen Days in Florida in April and our PRA13 fall fly in that has been changing names every couple of years. ROC/Wrens Fall fly in in October.

It seems Scott and I may have a small local fly-in at some point at our 2200ft grass strip 1NC8. The strips owner is a really great guy and just simply wants people out there. He's already told me many times since I've been there that he wants us to bring people in and fly! He loves having people flying at his field.

It isn't a strip real conducive to learning though because it is surrounded by trees on all 4 sides.

If you guys decide to have a fly-in there please let me know I will come and help for sure, I may not be able to make Bensen days yet again due to our class load we are duobled up as is to make up for all the new LT's the Army has now, butb a good thing is this new company is a use or loose leave company so I will have to take the leave instead of just building endless amounts.

I to would love to meet with you and see your parsons and fly with you this summer after training is done. my number is 443-794-9107 that is my cell can call me any time if I do not answer know that it is turned off in the class room so leave a meassage I will return it and that number is good for any gyro guys out thiere NC or not. Drop me a line latter.

It will most likely be after Bensen days before I try to drum something up. You guys are surely invited when we do something. I wish we had room to do something huge, but the strip is completely surrounded by trees.

In the link the hangars are at the south end and there is only about 2/3 acre to get cars and trailers for those that would drive and trailer in and still leave room for maneuvering everyone around each other. So we would be fairly limited on space but 8-10 cars and trailers should be no problem and there are a few in range to fly their gyros in.

There are some pretty neat features nearby to explore that I haven't even explored yet in my short time there. A lake chain with the Uwharrie mountains curving up out of them, a huge surface mining operation with lots of huge piles to surf the air off of. A good choice of medium size airports to cross country to.. etc. Might even plan it for a weekend that Rowan EAA chapter 1082 is doing their monthly 1st saturday lunch and have a flock of gyros fly in for it. That is a 17 mile cross country.

So the wheels are turning in my head and the owner of the field says something about it every time he sees me.

Dan -

I'm in Hampton Roads. I'd be happy to help with a build, as long as you don't mind the fact that I have no idea what I'm doing. I'd be more than willing to try and decipher plans & instructions, though, and drink your bottled water. Stoney is here, also, & might be interested as well.

Tim & all, the Virginia Regional Festival of Flight is here in Suffolk, about 10 miles away from NC, in late April, & Gyros are welcome.

Kurt when you get the final dates for that event let me know I will come down for it. If you and Stoney wants to help with a build that is fine with me, I do know what I am doing but it is a great way to learn. Your we can just build you and Stoney one so not opnly do you learn how to build you have a gyro when we are done.
