Default Peter Wendell: Private Pilot Gyroplane

Peter Wendell of Phoenix Az, earned his FAA Private Pilot Gyroplane rating today.

He was well prepared and gave a very credible performance on his practical test.

Default The Private ticket

Just a short note on why Peter's accomplishment is very impressive.

1. For some reason most of the checkrides I give are add-ons for folks already holding an FAA certificate at some level.

2. The Practical Test Standard has a matrix in it that says I do not have to look at certain tasks if a pilot already holds other certificates.

3. Since this is Peter's first certificate he had to be able to do, or explain and do, every Task in every Area of Operation in the Private Pilot PTS. His total checkride was about 5 hours in length when you include the oral portion and the flight portion. Preparation paid off.

4. The only other checkride that is as comprehensive is the Initial Certificated Flight Instructor practical test.

Great job Peter.

Jim

I met Peter at Buckeye and found him to be a very bright and capable guy. A really nice person, he is a great asset to the gyro community.

CONGRATULATIONS PETER.

Congratulations Peter.

You're on your way now. As I opined a few weeks past, I foresee a future gyronaut of high regard, as well as a Gyro CFI.

Again, congratulations and the best of luck.

Cheers

Peter Congratulations!!

I enjoyed meeting you earlier this year at Buckeye and remember you kindness.

(When a machine was down unexpectedly for maintenence Peter canceled his lesson and let me use his time slot as I was from out of town.-- A real gentleman.)

Peter I hope to be back in the Phoenix area by November with my Sparrowhawk so we will do some flying together.

Rob
