Default Pictures & Video of the June 6, 2009 Meeting

Special thanks to Gary Weaver for taking all the pictures and video. Then too, he was without his gyro, so it more or less defaulted to him this time.

Most of these still shots were of the "early birds." We eventually had 7 regular members and a number of onlookers and guests. Video to follow shortly.

1 & 2. John Prock's modified Bensen. It still has a Mac, but the wheel base is narrow, it has an Air Command cowl and the wheels (along with very interesting cable disk brakes) are from a pocket bike.

3 & 4. Jon Carleton flying the GyRonimo.

Default But, Wait! There's Still More!

1. John Prock, Robert Rymer, Jon Carleton, Lewis Gulley...and Gary Weaver behind the camera...who seems mysteriously to have avoided any appearance in the stills and videos.
2. Another shot of Jon Carleton landing the GyRonimo.
3 & 4. Lewis Gulley landing in his Mac/Bensen.

The videos will be available shortly. Links will be provided at that time in this thread. At one point during the morning, there were 3 Mac/Bensen gyrocopters in the air (and all with the engine running). Contrast with this year's Bensen Days, where Lewis Gulley had the only Mac/Bensen in attendance.

Thanks for the pics JC. looks like you guys had some fun. I cut more grass. I got the new engine mounted today.

We need to get the "elusive" Gary Weaver and that other guy, Trell, to join the forum, His Aircommand is top notch!

OK, here are two of the three links to the YouTube videos:

1. Three Mac/Bensen gyros and one Rotax/Bee all in the air. This is the early morning crew:

2. Wayne Stargell continues his high-speed taxi testing at RMG:

Thanks for sharing. I like the pod on the Bensen. What's making the whistling noise on Wayne's blades?

There are holes in the end of each blade that are generally closed by the manufacturer. These blades were purchased in an unfinished condition. Necessary parts for completion were made by Wayne. He hasn't gotten around to plugging the holes. Personally, I think they are kinda cool. It only whistles when the blades "catch" and stops whistling when the gyro begins to lift. A nice indicator as long as it doesn't whistle in flight. That could get annoying. It is pretty loud.

The blades on Wayne's gyro are Rotordyne 25' rotors.

Default A Couple More Pictures

I was not able to find a still that included Stanley Boyd, who is in attendance sans gyro, but did snag these two stills that include Wayne Stargell and Jim McDonald from some of the random video. Both Jim and Stanley have Mac/Bensen gyros, but did not fly.

1. Wayne Stargell on his Bensen Subaru hybrid.

2. Jon Carleton, Lewis Gulley, Jim McDonald and Robert Rymer.
