Default Disappointed

I came looking for the most entertaining thread in a while and see the new Führer deleted it from the "News" forum. <sigh> Time for Operation Valkyrie!

Carl, maybe you could create a forum dedicated to that form of entertainment. (This one isn't.) It would be interesting to see the community it attracted.

Try your local boxing, wrestling, ice hockey or ultimate fighting venue.

I gotta ask, are some of you people just plain stupid? I ask because generally, I assume most of you here are reasonably smart people.

The only threads I have deleted was 3 different polictical threads where the threads had turned into name calling fights between members..... and about 6 different threads started by spammers.

The latest thread I deleted was one I saw yesterday morning where there were pictures of a man shooting his load on a teenage girls face.... Perhaps this was the thread you miss Carl?

Even before I became a moderator, anytime a thread was deleted or closed, you could see quite clearly who deleted or closed it, as it would say " Thread Closed by GyroMike " or something to that effect when you would find the thread or the place where the thread used to be.

I figure if I could find out who closed a thread, most of you guys should be able to as well, I am a high school drop out afterall and don't consider myself a overly smart person.

GyroMike is the one here with the triggerhappy delete button on his keyboard.... Although I agree with his moderator actions and should have or probably would have done it myself had he not done it.

Anyway, snoop around a little more before you assume I am just being power hungry with my moderation powers, as so far all the " Good " stuff that has been deleted was deleted by one of the other moderators.

And lastly, open your eyes and consider this.... There has still been several political threads started and discussed since I was made a moderator, and I have not edited or deleted them, even though it is against the rules for these to be here at all. In this way I have been generous to you guys.

Also in any other forum I participate on, even questioning a moderators actions openly on the forum is grounds for being banned, even if only for a few days. Everytime one of you guys come on here and bitches about how a moderator does his job ( calling me Hitler for example ) you really should be banned for some period of time, and so far I have let you guys say what you want to say without getting worked up about it.

If you want to come here for the personal attacks on one another I have news for you, that stuff don't fly round here no more... So look elsewhere on the internet for it.

Actually, I didn't see the thread involving the girl in which you refer, so technically I did "miss" it. I also was not involved in any of the attacks in the thread that disappeared. I was just enjoying the drama. Finally, I don't belongs to other forums. If they ban people for being critical of the moderators, I never will. I am critical of ALL authority. After your comments about the thread in question, it seemed like an obvious conclusion as to who did what. If you didn't delete the thread, then I apologize.

Well I for one, am glad that the political threads are being deleted,if I want to read about politics I will go to a political forum. I come here to readand exchange info on Rotor craft. Now, if the thread relates directly to Avaition.like a rules change, then of course those should be allowed.

As Ron has pointed out alot of the Threads turn into name calling matches.

And that does not help the Rep of us Rotorwing builders and flyers.

Keep doing what your Doing Ron.

I agree with Animal. I have found the forum much better reading as of late. This is about rotorcraft, not rabid pamphleteering and divisive inflamatory empty rhetoric. If you want to cite where I have done this myself you could, but I am very content to not come here and be incited or sniped upon.

Its about rotorcraft.

Ron, you serve us well. The rest is griping. Shine it on.

PS: I still dont get what was wrong with the guy and the teenage girl though? Was she wearing a pro Obama button or something?

I don't post or read other forums. I am only concerned with this one. so this is the only one I'm concerned with. I don't like threads deleted so maybe we can compromise and just delete the bad posts instead.

Yikes, Ron, where did that come from? Who even mentioned you?

Keep up the good work. You're doing fine!

I posed this question b'fore and received no answer, so, I'll ask it again:

How 'bout political JOKES?! (Off Topic Thread)

By that I mean, jokes, satire, funnies; nothing serious as to cause animosity amongst the troops.

I just watched a youtube with "Jay Leno and Presidential Jeopardy" and it was hillarious.

I would also endorse deleting the individual 'animus' posters.

Cheers

Deleted Posts.
What happened to the tread about an enclosed home made Bensen for sale a few months ago? The one with the light in the nose. There were many derogatory remarks make of the enclosure. Another picture of it was here a week ago.
It was one person's dream and whether it was designed to be safe is not to be determined with one picture.
Looked for the tread for hours.
Was it deleted? ? ? ? ? ?? ???

Count me as yet another who appreciates the increased policing of the forum. No one is denying anyone the right to post whatever political posts they want on any of a zillion other political forums. Just to not garbage up this rare Rotary Wing Forum with political posts. I wouldn't want to have someone come in and insist they have a right to post all about their Nazi stuff, or their Muslim stuff, or their kiddie porn saying it was their first amendment right to post it and everybody else has to put up with it etc. etc.

I guess "Operation Valkyrie" fluttered to a failure.....

Yes, we all tend to get through a lot more good information once the Internet Assassins have all been somewhat squelched. A much more pleasant environment for anyone that wants to learn about rotorcraft.

Good job moderators, keep it up. Don't let a few name-callers discourage you. If people new what a Nazi or Fuhrer really meant, they would not insult you with those names.

What I think doesn't exactly matter Jay cuz' on the RF food chain, I'm a bottom feeder.

In the end it really all comes down to individuals and their ability to self police, because by "Christian" it might simply mean someone saying ' I thank the Lord we have the Rotary Forum to find out information like this, it saved my life!' or it could mean ' My god thinks your god is a gigantic ass and you will burn in hell for all eternity for believing that more than 17 angels could possibly sit on the end of a pin'

In the latter case the individuals 'right to freely express himself' is absolutely paramount to himself, and the others opinion and the value of the forum to anyone else have all become a distant secondary concern. What needs to happen is for the posters to come to the conclusion that the usefulness, value, and enjoyment of the forum for all people is most important.

I know Mike and Ron personally and I don't believe anyone that actually did know them would liken them to Nazis. When things go a little too far, and then are reigned in, sometimes it goes a bit too far the other way, and there always will be some grousing.
