Default Bensen Days memories

Bensen Days has always been a special place for us in the gyro community. So many great people coming together over the years. Good weather, good flying, and good people. Was looking through some of my Bensen Days pics and thought I would post a couple from years past

Tom,

This is the first I have heard of this. I hope the docs are very wrong!

John,

Tom is referring to Charley who in the past was the Air Boss at B-days.

I was told when I started my gyro training that "your not a gyro pilot until you've had your butt chewed out by Charlie P".

Charlie passed away the summer before my 1st Bensen Days.

http://www.pra.org/index.php?option=...bute&Itemid=71

Bill Myrtle has chewed me out several times now so I hope I am starting to make my way towards gyro-pilot now that our original DPE has gone west.

There for I have to assume the post is stating that Tom has been diagnosed.

I think this is Bensen Days #2, 197? at Williston, FL.

Ed Trent was Bensen’s #1 man.

Van Houten was SRC vice president.

Bob Thomas was the first PRA magazine editor after Bensen turned it loose.

Jim Duke was a PRA board of directors’ member.

The Phaneuf Brothers made Rotordyne blades.

There were probably more Hughes 269 and OH-6 blades at this flyin than Rotordynes.

I had lent Ken Brock a company car, a Toyota station wagon and he had never driven a car with headlight dimmer switch not on the floorboard. He was following me and I had to stop and show him how to dim the headlights on the way from Tampa to Williston.
