Anyone know what is happening with Marvin Currie ? He took my deposit on a Corvair PSRU, I sent him a couple of VW/Corvair Crown adapter drives so he could machine to those, he e-mailed me some pictures asking for the remaining balance, I duly paid up - and nothing has arrived. No replies to e-mails - nothing. Thanks.

You should have the individual's full name and mailing address, if not, you could be out of the money. If you do have the individuals full name and correct mailing address, if it's been over thirty days since you've heard from him, send a REGISTERED LETTER, one asking for a WRITTEN reply regarding an update/status of the work ordered; refusal is acceptance.

If after thirty days there is no WRITTEN reply, file a criminal complaint with the local District Attorney's office. The office of the applicable District Attorney is easily found, once you know the city and state in which the individual resides.

For what it may be worth, a good rule of thumb on any such contract work is: one third down with the order, one third when halfway finished and one third on completion and acceptance.

If you don't understand what has just been said here, see an attorney. A letter from one of those folks usually "wakes 'em up!"

Marvin has just surfaced - after I'd sent him a registered letter. His explanation helped, but would have been unnecessary had he just kept me (the buyer) informed.

Once I get the drive, and it's mated to it's 140 HP Corvair, I'll report back to the group with some data.

I'm not sure what Marvin's timelines look like or what he does other than build redrives but I believe it took a member of Chapter 62 almost a year to get his redrive. It hasn't been flown yet but the workmanship looked good.

Hey Mike, looks good. I know William Wynn, he is the master of the Corvair. I worked for a company that produced some of his components at one time. Will your application be pusher? If so, how will you cool it? 140hp may be possible with the big bore VW jugs. William claims 100hp in stock trim.

Marvin does nice work at a good price, He is just not speedy, you'll have to wait.
So don't be in a hurry.

It's a stock 140 HP Corvair Motor - that's how it'll produce 140 HP... don't forget that William Wynne quotes 100HP at < 3000 RPM for the 110 HP engine - with my bigger valves, fuel injection and reduction drive, the engine will breathe better, and produce it's max HP and torque at around 4500 engine RPM (which is 2750 RPM at the prop). The redrive is good for 150 HP. My application is both pusher and tractor - the redrive will accept both, and in the pusher configuration I'll be using armpit cooling intakes ahead of the engine, and top-down cooling as GM designed it.
