I just met a young fellow who is a fueler at the FBO at the Edmonton International Airport.
He told me he got his Private & Commercial helicopter licences. He did all his training on an R44. His total time is around 100 hrs on the R44. Total cost,... a whopping $68,000!!! Also he got 2 hours on a B206, at $1100/hr.!! These are some serious numbers. However, he said it is the most fun he has ever had in his life. And to top it all off,... he already has a job lined up in northern Alberta flying an R44 doing pipeline patrol and well site inspections this spring. Love to hear the beginning of a success story!! Jim. Also told him about this cool forum and to come and check it out.

Good to hear news like that Jim. Thanks.
Now that he is working , the $68,000 will get paid back pretty fast. Flying pipeline patrols is about as good as it gets for a place to build hours. I envy him like heck ..... I am trying to line up some pictures and a write-up about a 19 year old girl nearby. She graduated high school , took her 100 hour commercial license on the Bell 206 helicopter. Hope she gets a job right away. Last I heard she had spent over $100,000 for her training Yikes !!!! Arnie Bell47 |
