Default help on amptronics panel gx2

I have always fly with the oil preassue warning on when the gyro is cold.

remember I have a lycoming, and the panel was originally made for rotax 912.

I set the warning for 30 psi and work fine when cold but as the prassue rise above 94 warning goes on.

the caution range on the lycoming is 30 psi and cold can go up to 110psi.

The question is how you calibarte this warning in the GX2

Charles, My oil pressure runs between 80 and 110 lbs. Depending on the outdoor temp.
You might be able to readjust your pressure warning presets.

Lycoming engine

amptronics replied stating the oil preasure warning goes on in the low end and in the high end also.

but only the low end can be adjust. So is not a bad issue since the worth case scenario is low preasure. I think adding a 1k or a 4.7k ohm resistor in series with the sender might work the high end. But I dont know how will afect the low end.

Charles, I think my pressure runs about the same as Brents.

I will have to double check. Temp takes a while to go up but NOT pressure.

There is an AD out on 0-320 Lycomings for a problem with the oil pump. You might want to check up on it.

If the gage is correct your oil pressure may be high.

The type certificate data sheet E-274 specifies the following.

NOTE 1. Maximum permissible temperatures are as follows:

Cylinder head 500°F (well-type thermocouple)

Cylinder barrel 325°F

Oil inlet 245°F

NOTE 2. Fuel pressure limits: Minimum 0.5 p.s.i. - Maximum 8 p.s.i. For gravity feed systems, minimum fuel pressure is 15.0 inches of gasoline differential pressure across the fuel inlet fitting on 0-320-D2J.

Oil pressure limits: (Normal operation) Minimum 55 p.s.i. - Maximum 95 p.s.i.

(Idling) 25 p.s.i.

(Starting and warm-up) Maximum 115 p.s.i.

You can reset the oil pressure on your engine if you would like. Reference the attached picture. This part is located on the upper right rear side of the engine. Opposite end from propeller.

If your adjuster looks like item twelve, that is it has a hex nut on the end of a threaded shaft, you turn the nut counterclockwise to reduce oil pressure. I would not turn it more than a half turn at a time to adjust it to your liking.

If your adjuster looks like item eleven, you will need to cut the safety wire and remove the adjuster. You will find a ball and a spring. Don't loose them. Inside the adjuster housing you will flat washers. Remove one washer and reinstall the adjuster. You should use a new MS35769-31 annular gasket. If you do not have a new one clean up the old one and place a small bead of blue silicone sealant on the adjuster where the gasket rides and reinstall. One washer should be equal to twenty to twenty five pounds oil pressure.

I think mine is item 11. I will make some checks this weekend. But I am going also to check rotax 912 parameter, becasue the panel designers use the Rotax 912 as their 4 cycle engine. SO if the panel high reading is set at factory could be with the rotax number.

But thanks this is valuable info

ok I did several test and came up with the conclusion every thing is ok. My Oil takes timje to warm up and the panel will go on alarm at(% psi so it will be on alarm at start up and flying until oil gets warm.

It wasn't until I had 15v minutes running the engine on the gorund when the oil started to warm up . My oil cooler is high above me and get alot of clean air. I will post the test number later.

thanks guys for the tips

Default fuel reading erratic on gx1or2

for does that might have this problem. If you short the +/- of the sender the gx2 shall read 0%. if it reads anythibng else there is some resistance in the circuit.. I use a single row nylon brush and rubb briskly with contact cleaner both male and female connector of the box. where all senbder go to, problem solve. Now I am rechecking the fuel sender to see if it reading ok.
