Default Your most rewarding moment in your RAF

I thought it would be fun to have the readers of the enclosed gyro thread read about RAF pilots( actually any gyro)most memorable moment or moments in their Gyro.
To start off, I would have to say the first trip around the patch after a few ground hops was the most memorable. I had the training in type and 20 plus hours in a Air Command CLT Elete, but you still have your doubts. Never the less, you pucker your sphincter mussel and do it. Then you wonder what all the fuss is about. The flight came off just like it was supposed to and the landing smooth just like you had been trained . I had ballast in my right seat to tame the monster. It was actually unnecessary for me, but it was probably a good idea for someone with lesser experience. When I finally removed Billy Ballast, I was thrilled with the performance. Its kind of funny though, I now wish I had more HP so I can carry heavier pilots with out asking the engine to give 100% for most of the flight. Also I like a flying machine that will s--t and get!!! The ideal machine in my mind is one that will carry a 265 lb passenger and still purr at 4200. It prerotates to 250 and only needs 100 feet or less to become airborne and climbs out at 1500fpm or better. (dream on)So much for my ramblings. I hope every one has a safe and happy fourth of July. if you are going to be in Pa , give me a call on my cell phone 610-698-7716. I am having a pig roast and chicken bar- be- que up at the lake near Altoona on sunday. If you are a gyro head, call and come on up.

Larry: I have had a lot of memorable moments in my RAF...but the most memorable one was the first flight in it down the runway. It was very pleasant and enjoyable experience...and completely removed most of the doubt I had about the way it handled.

I don't think this is what you mean, but my MOST memorable experience in my RAF was when I flipped on my left side during a landing in a gusty crosswind. But I wasn't seriously hurt, and my machine is flying again.

I can't come up with any one pleasant memorable flight. The cross-countrys I have made were all great. The beach flights--Lincoln City, Tillamook, Astoria--were some of the more scenic. Meeting my night flight cross-country requirement during my training on an almost-full-moon night was very memorable.

My flights up at the Arlington WA EAA fly-in in 2002 and 2003 were probably the most pleasantly memorable. Finally, after years of attending fly-ins and wishing I was up there, I finally got to be "up there". Seeing all the planes and people on the ground from 400 feet was some of the best flying I can remember. I wish I could attend this year.
