Default Need your Feedback. For Mentone Convention

Hello All
I recently visited the Grissom Airbase Museum . It is 29 miles south of Mentone and Is very easy to get to .
MY Question is to all that are coming to the convention.
Would anyone be interested in taking a tour of the Museum?
I am putting some pictures on here to show you what aircraft they have on static display outside. Inside is a museum and gift shop. Also they have a cockpit of a F4 fighter jet that you and your kids can sit in . Also a Huey and a mock up of the wright bros. flyer that you can really lay down on and simulate flying it.
The cost is $4.00 adults , $3.00 kids 7-18 and 6 and under free. Seniors over 62 $3.00 and any present or past military personal are $3.00
They also have a 5 story tower you can climb up and get a good view of the Airforce base and runway. The base is still active and they fly big Ec 135 out of there. While we were there they were doing touch and goes for about an hour and a half.
Kind of neet to see.
Just want to see if there would be interest in going . Maybe if someone has a van or big suv people could carpool there.
Just a thought incase the wife and Kids get alittle figity and want to see something else.

More pics.
The tower is $1.00 to go up in also. Just to let you know.
Also the museum is not funded by any goverment agency it is non profit .They rely strickly on donations and entry fees.

It would be a good plan B in case of rain.

That sounds like a neat side trip to me.

I have wanted to see that museum every single time I have gone to Mentone.

The 2 issues I see is that 1. I just can't seem to pull myself away from the airport grounds since so much is going and 2. Connie does not like aircraft museums.

I am very spoiled because WrightPatt AFB Museum is less then an hour away from me.

If we could land at the museuem we could make it a cross country trip from mentone!

Tim, if you've seen the WrightPatt museum, you'd be very dissapointed in this one. What you see in the photos is just about all there is unless they created an indoor museum in the last couple years....

Tim
When I was talking to the cordinator there ."Grissom" He said that the paperwork has been filed to allow public aircraft to land at the base. But because of the politics of the situation It could take another year to get it finalized.
He said the plan was to use one of there older buildings on the northeast side for a teminal for the public.
He thinks there is going to be a charge to land there . But like he said he will believe it when it happens.
