Thanks PB.
We have a Brit in our EAA chapter. His take on the day was that they (the Brits) were finally shut of us as of this date... unfortunately we didn't the "good king" with us when we left.

Paul, it was a fantastic day, Thanks. Ok, it was mostly a fantastic day with a small problem. The day started at a local BBQ and we headed to town, just about 30 miles, to watch the parade and visit the Ice Cream Social. They must have had 25 varieties of homemade ice cream, mmm. Horseshoe tournament brought many old friends together and we enjoyed talking about the old times. A real nice prayer service for our Veterans and Service persons at the Central Park and the Huge Fireworks display presented by this small town of 3000 is usually remarkable. Williams, Arizona is a small town with a big heart in the middle of the largest Ponderosa Pine Forest and has endured droughts for a few years. Should I say tinder-box! The Fireworks started with a dazzeling display of aerials from 12” shells and all I heard was awes and oohs from the crowd of 10,000 plus. The second volley of shells was beautiful and lit the sky and also started a small fire on the hill behind the display area. The good thing is I know we have 120 Hot Shot Firefighters stationed here from Oregon, Vermont and Montana as we are in an extreme fire danger. The small fire gained more awes and oohs when it torched the first few standing trees and it did look pretty cool. When I left to come back to the ranch it seemed to have grown to about 10 acres and am sure at daybreak to see Slurry Tankers hitting it with all they have. With the dry fuel conditions and wind at 20 mph it will be a tough one to contain. My son just called and said in the past hour it had grown to about 20 acres. Did I say dry tinder-box? Hope we can get it under control. The ironic part is I am a National Fire Contractor and my crews are in Montana and heading for Oregon.
When you see this on the national news tomorrow, just remember you heard it here first! It was a good day though, mostly!
