Default Ultralights Outlawed in South Louisiana!!!

Hello,

Well they finally done it, figured out how to outlaw ultralights in Louisiana.

The Louisiana Dept of Wildlife and Fisheries have gotten a new law passed in South Louisiana that outlaws any and all ultralights.

Seems since Hurricanes Katrina and Rita came through they have found a sever shortage of the Great Southern Marsh Rhen.

Now a few guys were seen by LDWF agents as they were flying their ultralighs around the breeding grounds of these birds.

So their response to this is to outlaw the flying of ultralight aircraft over wetlands in South Louisiana.

I researched a map of South Louisiana wetlands and it's a vast majority of my community.

First offense if caught is $1250.00 fine and confiscation of the equipment involved.

Now this about takes the cake when the breeding grounds of a bird is more important than humans....

What next they gonna say we interfere with the migration of Canada Geese by flying or ultralights.

How can something like this happen without anyone knowing what's comming down??

Now we have to avoid not only restricted airspace but also the airspace of a darn bird that flies no more than two foot off the ground.

Ignorance is not an excuse with this new law so you guys better get an updated wetlands map and study it!!!!!!

Mark

Is there a height requirement? Does that go for experimental also? Is your gyro an ultralight?

Mark: I tell you...here in Illinois...the DNR...department of natural resources has more clout and authority than anyone. They grounded an ultalight up here two years ago for harassing wildlife which he claims he wasnt. Anyway..the officer told him if he sees that aircraft flying anytime for a year he will confiscate it and arrest him.

What kind of wetlands? Wetlands as in swamp?

Can you safely land in this terrain in a UL?

Is it National Parkland or private property?

Ron,

Yah got me, it is an April Fools Thing!!!!!!!!

But it is so close to a reallity that after I wrote it I began to think.

It could actually happen in our day and time you know.

I got the idea from something that actually did happen to me.

One morning we were at the boat launch.

I had my shotgun in hand and some ducks flew over.

Well, I popped a few caps off and missed the darn things.

A woman yelled, hey you gonna kill the ducks if you keep shooting at them.

I said well heck yeh that's the idea, to get em in the pot.

In less then a years time we had signs put up by the authorities that said no shooting within 50 yards of the boat launch.

It was huntin season and I wasn't close to anyone when I popped the few rounds off that missed the birds.

America, a land where everyone wants to fight the communist but at the same time be the communist.

April Fools!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
