Thank you for posting!

I love my electric R/C heli and my hybrid car.

considering how draggy gyros are we will likely be the last to see electric.

Fixed wing aircraft has higher lift-to-drag ratio compared to rotorcraft.

The Carter PAV is a good gyro for electric conversion.

After seeing the video on this page I have to wonder how close we are to seeing an electric gyro. If I had the time I would not mind playing around with a light weight configeration and give it a whirl.

If that motor can push that draggy PPG then why not a gyro??

http://www.lightsportaircraft.ca/air...araglider.html

The battery thing is the only hinderance to it being practical for a gyro as there are much more powerful motors on the market than what he is using.

there are some that produce 100-150HP in a 30-35lb range but require a lot of DC voltage.

Bill Dube' has been having great success with the A123 batteries he's using in his Killocycle. I haven't really kept up with it, but I do know they're much lighter than typical batteries, and much safer than normal lithium batteries.

I think that PPG motor would work best as a pre-ro. It has a soft start and 17 to 20 HP. That should get your blades going. We wouldn't need the batts to work for 30 min or 2 hours so a lot less would be needed.

Very cool video, I'll bet you are right Brent, that would make a real light weight Hi-Power pre-ro.

The killacycle is cool too, they have really made some improvements over the last few years.
