Default Hs Hs Hs

I am sure that its crazy for some to believe that a gyro is stable without
a HS. Yesterday we test flew our (Cyprus Made) HS conversion on
a friends (George Christodoulou) Air Command gyro. I flew that gyro without
stab some days ago but it was just yesterday I flew the new configuration.

The difference in stability is so grate that even a non experienced pilot can notice. I can honestly confirm that a correctly designed HS ( area, aerofoil, position) is a must for any Gyro.

My advice for all Stabless Aircommant gyro pilots is to get a stab conversion. Aircommand is offering one. if for any reason you can not obtain that feel free to conduct Nick. I am sure he will be glad to help.

That goes for you RAF guys!!!!

The conversion consists of:

a 20in. longer tail tube ( a 2in round tube with 2 reinf. inner tubes), a true Carbon/Epoxy stab with winglets, and a 6061 aluminium machined ruder mount. It is a bolt on Conversion requiring only longer ruder cables.

Nick karaolides who designed and built it, is also working on an one piece tail for the aircommand. (replacing the all moving rudder). He is doing all that job so that our good friend George Christodoulou who will soon be ready for his solo flights, be safe in his Aircommand.

Nick Karaolides (Cyflyier66 in the forum SOME TIMES) Also Designed and Built the 2 seatter Gyro that i have posted the picks earlier ( with my Help and input as well as enjoyable Hard labor). That Gyro is a unique in every aspect.
No more details on that for now. I will post a Detailed report when i will finish the 50 hours test flight program.

G'Day Giorgos,

Interesting Avatar!

Great Pics.

I see you are running what I believe are Macutchen (sp) blades. Heavy composite. How do you like them on the AC? What size disc?

I am about to put composite blades, 23 1/2 feet, 72 lbs, on my Butterfly (similar to AC up grade CLT). So I'm looking for advice/opinions on the heavier blades Vs my old Bensens.

I'm glad you guys are doing the conversions and looking out for each other.

Hey your boy Baghadatis (sp) great tennis player, doing well so far in the Australian Open Grand Slam Event.

Thanks for posting the pics and your report.

Cheers.

Mitch

Time to move the seat up higher.... about a foot higher and you will then have a modern machine. The HS was the first step, now is time to take the next step and raise that seat!

Hi Mitch

Thanks very much for the info on Bagdadis
Anyway the blades are 25 feet, they are a bit too long really but the air command belonging to my student George Chritodoulou came ready for the 2 seat side by side conversion which I decided not to convert just yet .
My favourate blades are Mc Cutchen because they are more effective and easy to ballance and track than any other blades I have tested
I can tell you that on my dual seat parsons I use the 27 foot long Mc Cutchen
blades with a 582 Rotax engine and they are unbeatable compared to more popular 28 foot blades.

Regarding your question from my experiance I have a more stable single seat Benson with the 23 foot long heavier blades

We think its better to lower the engine, tail and wheels for CTL. This way we can also increase the prop diam. for grater thrust.

Now we are more concentrated on our new dual seat gyro.

Giorgos.

Hello Giorgos.

Excellant achievement. Lovely looking H/S.

Lift the seat up too its simple.
The H/S like yours is 100% improvement.
Lifting the seat up is another 100% improvement.

Also motorcycle type tamdem seating would be best. Compared to SxS.

Very interested in Mr Nicks H/S. Will make more of then to sell?

Best wishes.
Rehan.

Nick has the molds for the HS and I am sure he can help all (stabless pilots)
He has much more to offer and the best is to contact him at his email address
info@aviomania.com
Nick has also develope a complete tail which fits on most popular gyros. It looks almost as per attached pic (old pic). For more info contact Nick.

Something very important Ive forgotten to mention here, is that even the glide ratio of the gyro with HS was clearly improved. Is was very noticeable
when coming down for landings. I flew this gyro quite a lot and I know
its bevaviour with and without the stab.

Nick left last Friday for business trip (regarding his own designed rotorblades) and he will be back this coming Wednesday.
Regarding your question ob HS specs I am sure he will respond as soon as he will be back.
